more popular/common on the west side...I never even heard of tri-tip untill a couple years ago. Most probably grind it for burgers.

My Publix always has one or two out, but they’re high as giraffe pussy. A local chain FoodLand will on occasion have one, but will always cut one for you if you ask. The one I’m doing later I picked it up at the only true butcher (meat market) in this area. It was frozen and needed trimmed. The FoodLand ones are fresh and need nothing but thrown on a grill/smoker.

Edit: They just started showing up around here. I’ve seen you guys’ ones and wanted to try for a couple years. Then all of a sudden they’re popping up.

Seems he’s in Columbus/Auburn area, that’s about four hours from me. He should have a Publix, just ask. But be prepared to pay over $9.00lb.

I would imagine any big box store would wrap up a tri-tip for you, or at least order a couple in.

If you read my previous posts, I didn’t even have WiFi on the grill today!

Although... Alexa hooked straight up to the GMG would be magical.

Part three of the whiskey and BBQ video premiers at 1 pm CST. This one features brisket and me gushing over Booker's bourbon.

I haven't seen which parts of the brisket slicing made it through editing, but this one was tender as hell. Hope that slicing and demonstration made it in the video.

I like Publix but damn their meat is always high as hell. Got my first brisket there and a 6.5 lb choice flat was $60.

My last prime brisket was 12.5 lbs and $46 from Sam’s. Clearly the winner here.

Well smokers I have messed up. I had to work an unexpected night shift 4 nights this weekend so I can claim I’m not totally in the right mind.

I got home and threw the butt on the Jim Bowie and all was going good. I went to bed and left instructions for my wife to put the ribs on around 10. I wake up around noon and my wife says the grill was yelling at her when she put the ribs on. My heart sunk when I realized I forgot to stop and get pellets after work this morning.

The grill was cold and the butt was at 134 with half ass bark formation. I wrapped the ribs and butt and threw them in the oven. This is the first time I’ve had to oven finish, so we will see.

I do have Publix. I know of another butcher shop but it’s about an hour away. Supposed to have really good cuts of meat.

Local butcher shop can kiss my ass after I stood there for 10 minutes waiting and 4 people in the back passed by the door and saw me standing there waiting and no one bothered to come out. Won’t be buying a damn thing from them ever.

I’ll check with the butcher at Sam’s next time I’m over there and see if they may have some in the back. Maybe they carry it and just don’t have it out. We also have a Aldi’s That I haven’t been in yet and they are building another one over here near me. I’ll go by and see what they might have.
