in your first post you say the truck only has 29k miles on it (still under warranty), now you says your outside of the 36k mile warranty?:notsure: so which is it? if 29k miles go get a new unit under warranty from Toyota and quit the BS

3 years or 36k miles whichever comes first is generally how warrantees work.

Poor math or poor reading comprehension? It’s more than three years since 2015...

I had to change 2 screens on my 4runner from cracking them. Pull your head unit, get the unit number on the side then go to opuradio.com and find your screen. The prices I got quoted were ridiculous. With the help of the people here, i found that site and got my new screen for like 120$ shipped.

I've replaced the factory head unit with a atoto a6 pro A6Y2721PRB. It's basically an android head unit. It's working great and I was able to get the steering wheel controls SWC working. If you install any type of after market head unit I would highly recommend using the Scosche TA2111BPB over the metra kit. I bought both and the Scosche is much higher quality, fit without any modification and just looks great.

:(I’ve always had issues with mine since day one when I bought it brand new. It just started doing this over the weekend. Won’t show anything on the screen when playing music and the wheel controls stopped working 06850C67-8A61-46FF-B98B-29B2E46D6008.jpg

I had a problem similar to this in my 2015, I brought it to the dealer with an appointment and they just updated the head unit. Took them a whole 5 minutes to do it.

They’ve already done an update the last time I went in for maintenance. Due for my next maintenance this week so we’ll see what they say this time. Hopefully another update will fix it :annoyed:

Weird. It fixed mine but hopefully it will fix yours. When mine did it though it just stopped displaying the music and I could still use the unit no problem.

I’m extremely happy with my Sony XAV5000. I used the ASWC-1 steering wheel control adapter. Plug and play, self programming. Bought everything from Crutchfield with all the plug and play adapters. I have a Metra dash kit

Indeed, when I visit my parents before some family I take her Q7 to run her errands while she cooks and stuff and I always play with the car play. I never could get it to work properly on my Camaro.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Unless you get uber lucky on finding parts, or a whole OE PnP replacement from someone already upgrading, it's not worth messing with IMHO.

I am not an audiophile at all, so I don't get all squirmy about what the units will or won't do, as long as they work.

My truck has the bottom end entune, serves me just fine, but when it dies, it will be replaced with aftermarket, likely a simple receiver that retains bluetooth and steering controls.

Our RAV is a Entune/Nav. As a used purchase I had no choice, it's what was in the vehicle. The NAV is way too complex and expensive to maintain, not to mention updates are not frequent enough in growth areas; my Garmin will be used instead. Love the vehicle though, so the unit will be replaced with something much smoother when it dies.

Word is that Toyota's future ('20?, '21?) units will use Google or Garmin NAV, making them much more user friendly. Of course that was from what I would call a semi credible source and remains to be seen. But even if they do so, I sure won't run out and buy a new vehicle because of it. ;)

Your metra looks good. Did you have to Dremel it? I got a $8 metra Toyota swc wiring harness and was lucky that I didn't have to purchase the ASWC1. If that didn't work my plan was to but the ASWC1.
My head unit can do Android auto with the purchase of a $50 device.
