    mine came with 2 of these and they work better with bugee cords. i gave the big cleats away since i couldn't find a use for them after a year. they wouldn't have fit under my tonneau cover anyways.

    I cant recall exactly what the screws that hold the rails on are but when I put the front one on I was not inspired to use that for anything more than a mountain bike.

    Point being, it's a plastic bed and not nearly as strong as a real truck.

    Just stop, you have no idea what you are talking about. The bed rails are not held on by wood screws and they hold plenty more then a 30lb bike. Show me one instance when someone ripped a bedrail or cleat our of a Tacoma.

    That said I invested in a tie down bar across the front of mine for strapping down multiple motorcycles.

    That was meant as smart-assed and funny but also something to keep in mind. That eye thing happens with bungee cords and despite that I use them to keep things like my lawn chairs in place.

    Bungee cords are the leading cause for eye injuries. Don't suprised if you talk down on something a lot of people find good use out of, and u get negative feedback. It's just a human thing, hard lines and stances are usually met with equal and opposite feedback. Just the way it works.

    I have/use some short sections of 550 paracord looped through themselves on those cleats to attach bungee cords to. I use the bungee cords with the larger plastic hooks. Easy on & off.

    Wow you got hammered on this...I concur the OEM cleats suck...they are too flimsy for ratchets, too "D" for rope cleating and the adjustment freezes up and is now too hard to adjust inside the "D".
    A gas cock 90 degree latch with an aluminum carabiner would be much better.

    I use ratchets on mine a lot. Even secure my water jug down with a clove in paracord and never had issues ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I like em.

    Fuck em...I use bungees, ratchets, rope etc too. I agree the thick design, working load and adjustment screw on these things sucks shit, just like the trollers.

    That was my first thought too. A square knot in paracord. I recently started using paracord on my ratchet tie down straps. Instead of the dumb end, (the end that's just a strap and hook) I use paracord. You can two part it and wrap two things at once. Super handy.

    During fishing & hunting excursions, I keep a full size spare tire in my bed in the upright position, on the passenger side, up against the front of my bed, oriented like driving. I position 2 cleats appropriately and use a heavy duty bungee to hold it in place. It's never moved.

    That's actually something handy to keep in the rear bins, couple of different lengths 550 loops w a double fisherman's. Brilliant. Then u can choke em, loop em, wrap em etc. Fuck I'ma steal that.
