As we speak I’m looking across the road at my neighbors newborn lamb. It’s too damn cute to eat.

I’ve had gator. I surprised even myself by putting it in my mouth. Was really good.

    Same here.
My grandmother was happy to cook them, and it was very good.
My Mom refused to touch them. :p
But she wasn't born for farm life.

Yeah, I had gator at a restaurant in Orlando a long time ago.
A little chewy, but fine otherwise.

Dunno about snapping turtles where you are, but they're not little here.
Big enough that it takes a full grown man to hold one up by the tail.
Not so much because they're heavy, but because you gotta hold them straight out.
They have long necks and you don't want to get bit by one.

I have an old picture somewhere of my Dad holding one like that.
That turtle was stretched out trying to bite him.

Man, I so want to do that.
But I'd go light, and that means alone. My wife would never go for it..
Just the truck, a tent, a 5 gallon bucket with screw on lid for...you know. :p
One of those solar shower bags, a couple 5 gallon carboys for water, camp stove...
    Like that.

    [sigh]

I have a snapper in my backyard right now. My mom loved them for some reason and picked up every one she saw by or in the road. She had a dozen back there at one time. They have all died or escaped except the one. He/she isn’t very big and it’s at least 10 years old.

Yeah, that's where you run into problems with short, light travel trailers. Pretty dang difficult to find one that has the comforts of home, but short, light, and offroadable.

Yeah I'm just kicking around ideas right now. Trying to think of how to best proceed. I wouldn't want to take an expensive camper the places I go in the truck. I could leave it in a campground as a base camp and use the RTT for off road travels. But most KOA or state parks have toilets and showers. I may just stick with the tent and stop at one of those every few days. Or get a bucket and solar shower for summer and stay dirty in winter. :D
