Haven’t read entire thread, still curious as to why people ask the internet to make a decision for themselves

No one knows how old Itchy is, let alone if he/she is human... some people hypothesize it's a deep AI neural network.

...or WRX vs STI. Impreza to WRX would be like golf to GTI.

It sounds like you got really unlucky for having a newer Taco with so many issues. Most of those look like easy warranty fixes, but maybe you just don't like the truck and want something else.

Because one can only read so many threads about people plasti-dipping their emblems, wheels etc and installing LEDs in everything when a simple trip to lens crafters could have fixed their eyes.

Wrx/sti are antiquated, can get way more smiles per gallon with 400hp+ in the same price ranges

Not sure of your budget, but a 3 year old CPO Macan S or GTS will check the boxes on your blank sheet OP.

Wonderful handling, super low 5’s for 0-60 or a bit below depending on which rag you read. Comfortable, stylish, and great sounding too. Easily tuned with an access port.

You just have to decide if you want an out of warranty Porsche in 3 years.

I'm surprised after all those headgasket problems...then again those were probably due to people going stage 2.

Just get an Ascent and throw some cheap landscaping timbers on top. Tell the dog mom you're expanding your yurt into a '"stabbin' cabin" and you'll happily bang them in that when finished.

Or spend $5 on an "I eat ass" bumper sticker for the tacoma and you'll be swatting dogmoms away like flies.

    Amazon has them.

A lot of terrible info in this thread. More opinions vs facts.

    Solid contribution.

Subaru runs opposed engines that are high compression and prone to knock, all the while having what their tech considers acceptable oil consumption. This is in their entire fleet of engines.

The GTI and Golf R both run on the EA888 platform last I checked while the Golf R has a special intake with a larger turbo on top of the AWD Haldex system. Beyond that, they don’t use CVT and opt for DSG which is light years better.

The Impreza is a grocery getter. The Golf is a grocery getter. The GTI is cheaper than the WRX, but not really that much real world slower than a stock WRX.

The STI is incredibly superior as far as transmission goes to the WRX. It’s got an old engine that isn’t used overseas anymore, but why change what sells here.

The Golf R has comparable horsepower and far more finer touches. The AWD system isn’t as good, but it’s still great. It isn’t prone to engine failure, and it’s far easier to maintain yourself (try changing spark plugs on an opposed engine).

All of these engines have carbon build up issues. FA20DIT is the worst of the lot.
