Anywhere near Glendale is a risky ride. Foothill Blvd out your way is too busy too.

I park at Lot i over by Kidspace and then ride across the street and do 3 to 5 laps around the bowl. It's about 3.3 miles each lap and elevation isn't much, maybe 150 feet per lap. There is a designated pedestrian lane and you ride on the left of the line in the road with the cars. Weekday mornings are good as cycling traffic is minimal. Tuesday and Thursday after 5pm, stay away unless you can keep up with the peloton riders who average 20 to 40 mph around the loop in a Tour de France frenzied pack. A number of pro riders train in that pack and it gets crazy and you will get yelled at if you're cruising around in the road. They get super intense, but it's cool to watch as they go so fast which of course means, when they crash, they crash.

Weekends are tricky. If it's a day of an event, stay away or be very defensive when you ride. March 2018 I was riding on a Sunday morning when the flea market was going on. BIG mistake. I was cruising along at about 15mph and an SUV decided to try a U-Turn in front of me, but was too big to clear the lane, so he stopped perpendicular. I hit my brakes and forgot i was on my mountain bike which is hydraulic brake. I hit the rear brakes and started skidding and then hit the front brakes too hard and I flipped over and landed face and belly first. Broke my front tooth off, split my lip open, and the impact sent my transplanted kidney into mild rejection. The SUV didn't stay and cops said i was P-1 for unsafe braking since I didn't hit the SUV. The cop told me straight up that I should have hit the SUV instead of the pavement. I told him I will try on my next accident. hahahaha

If you ride a mountain bike, the trail behind JPL is nice from what i hear but it gets crowded on weekends. It's the Gabrielino Trail and the parking lot is at

The Gabrielino trail is really nice. Should be even better now with all the rains we have had. The stream crossings are refreshing, especially in the summer. Came up on a bear one time coming back from the dam. That was pretty neat. Ive also seen a baby rattler and a bob cat and a few deer. I havent ridden that trail in a few years though (I should probably look into getting another mountain bike. I've gained some pounds. Lol)

If your up for more of a challenge, the Brown Mtn/El Prieto loop was my favorite in the area.

I will follow your lead. I can ride M/W/Thu Between 9am-11:45 Am. I am looking for no elevation. WAY too much elevation here. I ride in Valencia in dedicated bike lanes on the weekend, no cars, no street to cross (it uses bridges and underground tunnels).

Road and hybrid bikes for me at my advanced age :D

factory side step, didn't get a chance to do anything to it yet, haven't even got to put it in 4 wheel mode yet. Lame, but I work a lot.
Awe man, How is it I just come across this group the day I put my 18 offroad up on craigslist for sale. Wish I would have know about the group last year when I bought it......

In for a bike ride if you guys are going. El Prieto is definitely something I'd save for the more experienced.

What part of Glendale? I’ve only seen one blue pro driven by a female around my hood.
