my wimpy stereo

wimpy compared to some, but its exactly what i was looking for/lacking. so i followed the diy for the rear speakers in the reg cab a little while ago. my mounting system sucked so i redid those today. i also noticed that since the speakers were firing into the back of the seats, they were a tad muffled. and i was still lacking my lower end of the spectrum. so fast forward now to my new finished product. just finished up about 20 min ago. do give the 6.5's a little more ooompf, i bought a kicker kx200.4. 2 channels to the speakers, and 1 channel going to my 8" kicker sub. after about 30 min of balancing everything out, i love it. still have the factory front speakers and headunit. excuse the mess in this pic, i still havent finished hiding all the wires yet.



its not mind blowing, but it def gives me great all around sound. love it now

 

what did you use to hook up your amp to the factory head unit?

 

line out converter. i was skeptical on using one since in my installs in my previous vehicles i never used one but it worked great. no noise or anything

 

alright. where did you get it? how does your sub sound since it is wired to it?

 

u can get em any place that sells stereo stuff i think. i picked that one up at walmart. and the sub sounds fine, u can still fine tune the sound from the amp

 

line outs are a easy way to go with a factory headunit. But really if you get an aftermarket HU you will notice a difference. I suggest looking into a new HU and ditching the factory. But none the less, very nice install man

 

ya i never originally intended to go this route so i never thought to upgrade the head unit. still dont think i want to yet, not long ago i bought the ipod hook up for the factory radio and hooked it all up
