First I heard of this, what is this called so I never purchase one. My wife told me about this, her girl friends Jeep Compass does this.
I told her something is wrong with the car if it does this.
Please square me away, of course right away the wife says” I do not want a new car” without getting her facts straight

My wife's A4 does it. Doesn't happen much in the summertime Georgia heat though, too much AC strain on the battery.

A lot of new cars have it, saves gas. I hate it, rented a Mercedes in germany that had it.

Many new vehicles do that too save on gas.

It’s called “stop-start” and there’s quite a few models that do this.

I’ve driven several cars that do this and it’s not a bad thing once you get used to it.

Not sure what you’re reservation is with this tech.

And why is this in buy/sell/trade as opposed to general automotive?

I've always wondered if that feature puts a lot of stress on the vehicle doing that stop/start all the time. I guess they're designed with that in mind, unlike say our Tacomas, so maybe it's a non issue.

Some of the ecoboost f150s do this.

Itd drive me crazy personally, but there is a button to keep it from turning off

Sorry it was placed in the wrong section, maybe the moderator can delete it,sort of like why do 1st and 2nd gens giving advice on the 3rd gen forum. Tell the mod to take it down if it bothers you and yes, stop and start on new cars is and would of been a deal breaker for me

I think more and more cars are coming with it. Just like lane departure, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, etc. I also read that the manufacturers are making it where you can’t disable the feature.

I remember when I was a BMW tech and PDI'd my first one with that. Scared the crap out of me, thought I broke the car somehow. Then I let go of the brake and it started right up. Hate that feature, I can just imagine when it does it that one time and doesn't start back up. Now you just ruined/pissed off a bunch of people.

Yeah but you have to hit the button every time you start up the car which kinda sucks.

This!! My BMW does it and I don’t care to save the little gas so I turn the feature off, easy push of a button, you don’t even have to do it every time so it operates more like a lever. Not sure why this is making people freak out, lol
