i recently put in new speakers, a stereo, and a rear view camera into my 2nd gen. Everything went according to plan until I put my truck into reverse. The screen flickers and is glitchy and the bottom part is green and the whole thing is pretty useless. I redid my wiring for the power cable from the left reverse light to the right reverse light to see if that worked and it didn’t so I was hoping one of you could help me fix thisproblem.[IMG]

Might want to get your reverse pickup under the dash on drivers side.

I am using the Jensen BUCAM400AJ
And I have it wired to the reverse light in the taillight housing. The reverse trigger wire is tapped to the other twilight housing

So the camera 12V red wire is connected to the tailight reverse 12v triggered wire and the black wire to frame ground. Why do you have another trigger wire to the other light housing?

No there’s only one trigger wire and then the power which are both connected to the reverse lights and the ground is to ground

??? The Red RCA plug from the camera has the red and black which are connected to the reverse light wire in the housing and frame ground. You don't use the red wire coming out of the yellow rca. Is this how you have it wired?

Oh really? Why don’t you use the red coming from the yellow rca?

The red wire on the tail light end goes to the tail light trigger as you have done. The red wire that comes out of the rca jack that goes into the back of your radio must be connected to the single wire coming out of the back of your radio that is marked reverse light. That is what makes it work.

I thought I had to connect both the red wires that were connected to the yellow rca, one on the stereo reverse wire and one to the reverse light

Do you want to be able to view the camera other than when in reverse? If so, you should pick up power from the constant switched source on the stereo loom. Then run the wire to the reverse signal in the driver kick panel and the video signal through the yellow RCA.

What adapter harness are you using for the stereo, I used a Maestro RR and didn't even need to run the reverse signal wire.

Disconnect the red wire from the rca cable and test the backup camera. Let me know if you lose all video or fix your issue. I beleive you leave that wire unused if you are already tapping the camera into the taillight housing.

Your HU trigger wire puts out 12V so you only use the rca cable red wire if you dont tap into the taillight housin to power the camera. What you did is supplied 12volts twice so that may be your issue.

I disconnected the wire and the only thing it did was not switch to the camera when I put it in reverse. It still is glitchy and just messed up.

I looked up the install diagram from crutchfield and it also stated that you dont use that rca cable red wire if you tap into the taillight housing trigger wire. You may run a test power wire from the battery positive terminal to the camera to rule out a power supply issue with the taillight housing. You could have a faulty camera.

I already tested the camera because that’s what I thought was the issue at first but it’s perfectly fine so it has to be my wiring. I’ll probably just undo the wiring and start from scratch when I find time. Thank you and everyone else for your help! It means a lot!
