Yes, reassembly is very quick and easy. I think I spent an hour or so total but I worked carefully. And, no, I did not bring it back up with my service dept. I just moved on. I considered it though since they said it could not be done. Perfect example of how something can be “normal” for Toyota but that doesn’t mean it’s right.

Yes. I believe you can adjust enough for a good alignment. I think you can loosen up the middle section also to provide a little more movement. My bed was fine. It was just my bumper. You could warranty it. My brother did and it came out nice. My local dealer said it couldn’t be done. Really. Depends on dealer I guess. Not much risk of breaking anything if you don’t have sensors.

Yeah due to time, I might just ask my dealer first and if it ends up being rocket science to them, I’ll say forget it and do myself. Or I’ll buy that cool steel bumper in that video. Haha. I think those things are heavy though.

I picked up my 2018 TRD OR 2 weeks ago and while washing, I noticed this same issue on the drivers side. I called the dealer...for any of you Western PA folks, it was Diehl Toyota in Butler. They scheduled me an appointment for today to repair. I brought it in at 8:00 this morning, and after a few hours, they had it all corrected. One thing to note, the black plastic “cap” across the whole surface of the bumper is put in with cheap plastic clips that break when it is removed. The dealer ordered me a new piece and will install for me when it comes in. Luckily I caught it early and this was all done at no cost!

Hmm I didn’t break a single plastic tab when I aligned my bumper. I wasn’t easy on it, but wasn’t super rough. Sounds like the tech didn’t play too nice with it. At least they are replacing it though!

Yeah I was wondering about that, but they got it on for now and it looks good. Just gonna have to make sure they follow through and call me back.

Yeah, just check in with them every few days. I wouldn’t think it would take very long to get that part in. Sucks you have to go back in, too. I aligned my bed and then my bumper to the bed in about 30 mins and no extra hands.

Yep, was walking around mine today and noticed about a 1/2in bigger space on the drivers side. Anyone else have success with the dealer fixing it?

It seems like this is an issue, I noticed it on my 2018 Tacoma yesterday. Will the dealership correct the issue? I have about a .5 inch difference and now that I noticed the issue it is driving me crazy.

Your dealer can fix the bumper. It’s fixable. My brother’s dealer aligned his. However, mine said it couldn’t be adjusted. I think my dealer just didn’t want to spend the time. I just did a little research on this forum and did it myself. It’s not difficult at all if you have an hour or two and some patience. And you’ll learn something along the way. There isn’t much adjustment available and you may need to adjust both sides a bit to get them even. Really, once you get the black step pad off, you simply loosen a couple bolts and line things up. The holes are slightly larger than the bolts. That’s the extent of the adjustment you have available if I remember correctly.

My 2019 bumper is off a 1/2” on the passenger side. Following the video and instructions on this thread I’m going to do it myself. I have sensors so I’m a little concerned about breaking them but, it’s so noticeable my OCD won’t allow me to leave it that way.

One day later: Well, I couldn’t wait any longer. I watched the attached video a few times and went out to adjust my bumper. It is very easy to do and only takes about an hour if you take it slow. There is plenty of adjustment once the bolts are lose. I got it aligned close to perfect. Now I can relax.

@2017SilverTRD is each side independently adjustable? I noticed mine being way off the other day it’s driving me nuts

Pretty much. Neither side will move a lot. I found I had to slightly adjust each side to get them even.
