Any tips for things I should get for my cap before it gets delivered? Things like a bulb seal and what not?

 

I hear those bulb seals will wear on the paint a little. I also have heard of guys using pipe insulation and making their own. I had a cap once and didn't have one so I can't speak from personal experience.

I did use to use one of those dryer vent brush things to wash between it and the cab. You can also tie rags together to make one long rag or use a 2 beach towels tied together. Of course it helps if you have an extra set of hands to do like a sawing motion.

 

How would it eat the paint, it sits on top of the plastic bed rail cover. But I’ve read other threads saying to use the ESI Cap seal off Amazon instead of the foam tape that comes with the cap

 

Ohhhhh! When you said bulb seal I thought you meant the one that goes between the cap and the cab of the truck. I have heard the vibrations/movement coupled with the accumulated trail dust wears on the paint.

You must me talking about on top of the bed rails. Yea, anything you can add there will be fine. Sorry.

 

What you’re thinking of is a compression boot. A compression boot would be cool but there’s too many things to go wrong with them

Have you slept in the soft top in winter yet?

 

What wheels and lift do you have? Looks good!

I plan on getting a shell was debating on soft or hard. Most likely will be sleeping in it often for work.

Did you use a heater?

 

no heater for me. the sleeping platform is lined with wool, a nice insulated sleeping pad, a good down bag. I'm plenty warm. some people run a little buddy heater though.

if you're going to sleep in it a lot though, the extra head room of a hi riser shell is totally the way to go.

The standard ones which I think are 600.
