We're in Jefferson National Forest in a nice little campsite off a forest road. It's raining but we're dry.

Up in the forest it's actually getting cold enough im thinking i need a jacket. Today was maybe high 70s but it rained all day. Yesterday was maybe 80 ,82 or so. Much less humid than Fredericksburg too

Meanwhile...my older daughter (7) is at a outdoorsy nature camp all week, Yesterday she canoed across Mott's Reservoir with another camper (she clarified the other canoes had 3 or 4 kids so she had to do more work) then hiked for an hour and played on the beach and caught toads.
Today while she was there our younger one (almost 5) had to get a physical for kindergarten which included unexpected blood work sending the wife running around to handle needles and jabbing her baby with them before she picked up the older one...momma doesn't handle the needles well when they're around her babies.

Then I get this text message: "I'm done for the day. They just sent your other child home with a humming bird head that she found in owl puke."
Apparently disected owl pellets at camp today and she found a hummingbird skull...color my wife, not impressed! I just want to know how the owl caught a hummingbird!
@chiefcrunchy thought you'd get a kick out of this one

Wife and kiddo are back from momma’s yearly trip back home to Canada.

Apparently you buy TP when it’s on sale, even though you can buy it here. o_O:rofl:

Only took 6 hrs to take get there (additional 1:15 of traffic), but maybe I'll get to take her on the sand while we're up here in Chincoteague!

Nice! Glad you all had a good time.

I wanna get over to Wallops Island sometime to see a rocket launch. I'm by far a space nerd/nut, but think it'd be pretty cool to see.

Lived there when I was 5, and hadn't really been back since we left in 88/89. It was great to introduce the kiddos to, unfortunately my old "family housing" was demolished and inside the Wallops fence now (would have been the house that faced out of that "entrance"). I have a buddy who works up there and have thought about taking the kiddos to see one, but haven't kept up with their scheduled launches.

I work for a company that did lots of shuttle and rocket video and still photography work, albeit they were in Florida and Commifornia. I actually got to (off the clock) take photos of the STS 114 (first launch post Columbia re-entry breakup disaster).

I had a friend (now lives in HI) that would try to get up there via small private plane to see the launch, but everytime she went the launch was scrubbed.

Cool. I don't really keep up either, Just pops in the head every now and then.
    Welcome! Glad to have yea.
    Nice!

Depending on what they shoot up (an advertised), I can sometimes see the glow in the sky from the house here in Richmond. Granted the trees at the end of the street have gotten taller over the years. Been getting harder to see the burn.

down here in New Kent it's pretty untainted by city light polution, but haven't tried viewing the night rocket launches.

my in-laws are in the Richmond Battlefields and get some great (or so we thought) evening star gazing sky's... especially being surrounded with hundreds of acres of family farm and Park land... but now my in-laws come to our place for night sky viewings like tonight's Meteor showers
