It's temporary anyway if you don't keep the truck stock. Lift, skid plates, and off-road tires all can change the vibration harmonics in the whole vehicle. I did all the above and now get rattles if I keep my Duratracs at 35 psi. Drop to 29 psi and most rattles subside.

 

Thankfully it isn't designed like a VW.

 

I hoped for this as well but knew it wasn't likely. The 3.5 is the wrong engine for this truck. It's an over square engine meant for sedans. I can't think of any other truck that has an over square engine, definitely a bean counter decision to put this into the 3rd gen.

Any changes to the engine for the Tacoma will be, unfortunately, a hybrid set up. For me and as well as many others holding their breath for a bigger engine, it won't happen.

 

Under 40k for a sport should be doable, but maybe not the first wave to arrive at the dealerships. Maybe wait until November when the buzz subsides a bit.

 

So from that video... lights, wheels, seat, music/app stuff and boom 2020. Curious what sticker will be compared to 2019 pros.

 

@RedsWhiteTaco Same here! I bought a 2015 holding out for possibly a 2020, but if it's overpriced I might just stay the course. I wonder if these tariffs and trade war will have an affect on pricing because of parts and such.

That may be possible, but they haven't confirmed anything. I believe it is an option that can be enabled with a subscription on Entune 3.0 systems, which they are putting in the 2020 Tacomas, but nothing official has been announced as far as I know.

 

I'm guessing you're in Norfolk? The snow seasons aren't brutal lol. People in Hampton Roads just don't know how to drive in it, myself included. If they get 2 inches there, everything shuts down. Seriously. I lived there until I was 30, then my wife got stationed in Idaho (she's Air Force).

You don't need a Tacoma for winters there. But you should still get one anyway!

 

If it does make the shift to hybrid I feel that would be the death of the Tacoma offered with manual transmission. Something that is already on life support across the auto industry.

 

Will 2020 standard TSS include blind spot monitoring?

 

They haven't said anything is different about that this year, so my guess is you'll still need to get the Tech Package for BSM and RCTA.

 

Honda made Hybrids with Manual Transmissions, so it can be done.

 

Not saying that it's not technologically possible, just seems highly unlikely to bring over that option to be paired with a hybrid especially if they want to advertise and/or ahere to a certain MPG with that new platform. Would love to continue to see MT continue to stand the test of time.

 

I am in no hurry anyways and would like one by at least January. If I wait until November then I'm assuming the new Tacoma is coming out very soon?

I'm in the ship yards in Hampton Roads but will be going to a new command in Suffolk very soon though. I am from Cali and my tC is pretty low so I figured a Tacoma will help a bit. I'd feel safe from the snow or the bad drivers around the area in a Taco.

 

This is true but I agree with @6MTPro, manual will be gone when it goes hybrid. We’re extremely lucky that there is a manual Tacoma still on sale.

 

Right if there was no MT Tacoma, we would be stuck having to go with a Frontier or Gladiator to get it.

I watched video also. If they do change the mapping for shifting problems that would be extremely nice and could have dealer flash the truck to have new changes..... hopefully.

 

Toyota has also claimed to have adjusted the throttle response as well. Hopefully not only will the 2020 auto shift better but will have gotten rid of that poor throttle response too.
