Like my housemate tearing up the trail in his Subaru because he "has the same ground clearance as my truck" (according to the spec sheet + 2" spacer lift he has ...)... Then he rolls backwards on a barely steep grade because his CVT can't power the heavy car forward...

Yeah, I avoid RMNP unless I'm on the motorcycle. I went scouting yesterday on the moto to inspect parking and options at the closest trailheads to wilderness that are at the end of dirt/rocky roads for my quick escapes.

    FRIGGIN HAIL!

So I live along the Palmer divide and last night we got abused! We had a round of it on Saturday PM and then BLAMMO yesterday literally destroyed just about every living plant we had.

That was not the big issue...we got sooooo much hail in such a short amt of time, the gutters could not keep up with the rain/hail that everything had no where to go. We had rivers around the house and now the retaining rock wall in the is pretty "sketchy"...I took videos of the water pouring out between the rocks and a bunch of dirt/rip rap between them is missing...ugh...time to start filling it.

The absolute worst part is I installed a Meso Customs BD5 third brake light and ONE friggin' POS ping pong ball hit smack dab on the center of it before we could fully cover the truck with comforters/moving blankets. The headliner got soaked but the good thing is that nothing else was damaged on the truck.

I have it packed with some plastic bags and have taped the crap out of it to prevent any more water entry. DAMMIT!

I suppose it is time for some Flex Seal foam or some type of expanding foam to fill the cavity and then RTV the crap out of it....somehow....or do the old fashioned thing and BONDO the shit out of the space and then try to make it look pretty.

My wife's car was totaled last year from the storms near the Broadmoor/Ft Carson so I don't want to go thru another season of this.

Next time I am close I am driving it into the woods and praying for the best.

The good thing is that I did manage to save the tomato plants!!!! :)

yeah, I totally know what you mean. I discovered pirate around 2004 and learned a TON about all kinds of things mechanical and also learned a lot of shit talk :D

Plus there was a lot of funny BS happening off and on. We're in a new era of internet "forums" as FB groups have taken over in popularity and convenience

Does anyone have feedback on the following motorcycle shops or suggest any others between Centennial and Castle Rock? I just need tires mounted and purchase a chain and brakes which I will install myself.

    Fay Myers in Centennial
    Bloody Knuckles in Castle Rock
Devils Head Choppers in Castle Rock

We have been rather lucky this year on the Palmer Divide. Every hail storm has skirt around us.

Check out some gutter guard to help out with the hail. Works like a champ.

Would you mind posting a short video of your rock retaining wall?

Generic feedback for tires.... take them just the wheels and save yourself a small fortune.
Coincidentally, my neighbor is an mc salesman and drunkenly suggested the other night that we go in on a tire machine and balancer because the #1 complaint he hears is that no body will mount/balance tires that aren't purchased from them.

That is exactly my plan. I finally pulled the rear tire last night and have it in the back of my bed. Once that one is done I'll pull the front. I was planning to purchase tires through the shop as long as there isn't a ridiculous markup. I'm not looking for anything special...just something to enjoy the bike for one more season till I sell it.

    Chris,

I am not sure how to post a video up. By the time we realized that the crap was happening we were too late but I do have some video of it draining out of it, albeit w/o the GUSHERs that were happening all night long.

Gutter guards would NOT have helped. The sheer amt of rain and hail that happened to just around 9pm was overwhelming. During the "break" last afternoon/eve, we had our wetvac out and fans helping the neighbors. There was literally sooooo much precip it couldn't have helped. I like gutter guards but when that much precip happens that fast our neighborhood is screwed. I managed to get the county to come out and put in some asphalt curbing (after 4 years of battling) and it helped a bit for the erosion.

I digress but needless to say it was a royal PITA.

Thanks. I've told him that about inserts a couple of times. I'm doing my best to convince him, but time and budget... Will be at least another few weeks before you might hear anything from me.
