Most people will say avoid Optima. Odyssey is solid but pricey.
For a budget minded upgrade, look at an interstate megatron plus battery.
The reserve capacity is an important number to look at when you’re running high demand electrical accessories

Depends on how expensive you want to go.
One of the best batteries around is a northstar 27f NSB-AGM27f. If you just want a decent battery that will last a number of years, a duralast never let me down. I have an Optima yellow top. A lot of people dont like them after they changed ownership but I have never had an issue with mine and I put it through hell. What do you planning on running off of the battery?

Any chance any of ya'll know where I can get 5/8 chain pretty cheap? Online at least Tractor Supply only goes up to 3/8. I'd prefer to be able to pick it up locally but everywhere I've looked online (HD, Lowes, TSC, etc). Fastenal seems to sell it but $14/ft seems steep and the nearest is about 45 mins or more from me...I'm looking for 4-6 lengths of 5' each. Might reach out to my FIL in RI since he's in construction/quarry work.

McMaster doesn't do shipping until after you purchase (uber-annoying) but they have a few options that aren't $14/ft. I don't know if shipping would kill the savings though.

    Good!
We Haven’t been out near as much as I would have liked this year.
Just finished a 1000 mile round trip to Acadia.
Did some wheeling NH a couple weeks ago.
How have things been for you?
Wedding is coming up soon right?

Just got back from a Colorado trip and saw this at the ranch we were at! Legit use and kinda cool that it was refurbed in Maine!6F78DAA2-DB1D-4D4C-8F83-C31A68B32875.jpgBB4D1FB1-A70A-40B7-B5A9-19F96729AC26.jpg
They use it to get folks that don’t/can’t ride the horses up to the high points on the ranch for group activities. Pretty cool to hear that creep by at 7am for the trail breakfast!
BTW, if anyone is interested in a dude-ranch vacation, pm me. I thought it would be hokey but the whole family loved it.

So spent two days in Durham/Lee/Barrington NH. Idea was, rent a place on some water and just chill. We did that and the place was simple and nice, lake was quiet etc...

We will never, ever, go back anywhere near that area in our lives. Everyone there is a dick. Not a single person waved, smiled or said hello in a nice manner in probably 15-20 interactions. Everyone was pissed/depressed or just showed no emotion. It was really weird since I figured it would be sort of like Maine and I've heard nothing but good things about NH. I wasn't being wierd either, simple waves and "thank you's" or hold a door open for someone and they don't even acknowledge you are there... Even the police won't wave at you.

Just super rude, depressing and shitty. There wasn't a single non-fast food place within 20 minutes of Barrington. Now I know having not much around the area (even though UNH is right there??) isn't a big deal. But peoples attitudes were horrible and both the wife and I were shocked at how bad it was.

So, is the rest of NH any different? I know we went to a crappy part as far as tourism and things to do...but people are people and if that's how the state is, we won't ever go back. Right now there is no rush but I'd like to try the lakes/mountain regions eventually.

That's just an odd area. Sorry you had such a bad experience. I'd try either true north or some of the smaller lakes out west. I hardly ever camp anything lower than Errol these days

We only left early because it was going to rain all night and day, so we figured might as well head out after dinner (actually really good thai). I'm happy to hear that's a weird area and I sort of figured it was. My thought was its so close to Boston that it got infected by it . I originally wanted to go up to the mountains and lakes but it was a couple hours further than we wanted to drive for a two day trip. I'll try to convince the wife to go back sometime maybe next summer, but we will just aim a little further north.

Anything up by Mt Washington area is really cool. I was hesitant on driving that far for shorter trips but my wife convinced me a few years ago. We go up usually once a summer now for a long weekend. This year we aren't just because of timing of other things.

Yeah to be honest outside of the beach, I did t know prolr vacationed up there. Haha. There's stuff to do but outside of the immediate coastal area it gets tough. Lots of farms and college kids. And transplants haha

It was pretty obvious it wasn't a vacation area. Again, that is 100% on me, I knew it wasn't some hot spot, and we didn't go to do things, but to be lazy. I just expected some super friendly land of fantasy, and I guess I was depressed that it wasn't much different from some of the areas I venture in daily.

Wish I knew you were up there. Just a short coffee cup of a drive into Maine and you'd be up at wells or gunquit'. Would have been much more of what you were looking for

Ours is a 220V wall unit. It CAN cool the entire upstairs down if you feel like watching the meter spin, but if you let it get a head start on a hot day it'll keep it comfortable just running on the low 'eco' setting.

What grade are you looking for? Grade 70 5/8 is like 15k/lb if memory serves.

Yep, agreed that part of NH is a sess pool of people. From Dirty Dover to Crotchester, I avoid that area like the plague. It's really a shame because Rochester is a super historical town with some interesting architecture and background, but for some reason it's just become a miserable corner of the world. I hate to use the term and be "that guy" but it's white trash central there, plain and simple.

NH in general has a lot of people that keep to themselves and don't seem that friendly but will give you the shirt off their back if you are able to crack the shell. We are a blue collar state and that can mean two distinct different types of people- ones that are happy to live that life and ones that aren't. And this I hate to admit... if your vehicle has a MA, CT or NY license plate on it and they see it- FORGET IT. You are the enemy, plain and simple no matter what your opinions or beliefs are. Even though everything south of Concord NH is basically northern MA and it doesn't make sense.

If you can get up to the true north country, north of the White Mountains, people are a lot more friendly but may not necessarily be outgoing to be so. We are proud to be redneck curmudgeons, we find sarcasm and grumpiness campy and comforting. Start a conversation with someone complaining about the weather no matter how gorgeous it is and you may crack the shell.
