Little to rich for this poor rusty trailer lol. I was going to run tacoma leafs but i was told it would cause alot of bounce. So I scooped up a 3.5k axle with 6 lug hubs, some soft ride 1400lb leafs, and an add a shackle kit (currently had slipper springs) from a company called compact camping designs. Ill see how they run and adjust the setup from there.

Cool. Yeah I have a little trailer I picked up off FB marketplace last fall for $60 I'm going to turn into one. I have a utility shell that was given to me a couple years ago that I used on my 07 GMC canyon that I want to stick on it for my rtt to sit on.

I do construction, so I can make anything with wood but welding isn't my forte, and I dont think I'd trust using wood for the in-between stuff for an offroad trailer that bounces around a ton.

Nice score. I paid 400 for mine. That would be a really nice set up. And keep your stuff dry.

I used to weld really well, but since i stopped working at dealers and independent shops and moved into working on brand new cars, i dont get to weld anymore. So im really out of practice. Hoping i can remember

Good news - my welder (the guy that works for me that welds really well) just got out of jail! lol If i would have had to weld it myself, I don't know if it would have held together going down the road.

I've started on the trailer in the last couple days, and hope to get a good ways down the road with it next week.

Work has been insane lately, no time to do anything but hang out with the family when i get home. But i did manage to sneak out yesterday and get the other fender off. I have recieved my shackle kit, leaf springs, and ubolts. Now just waiting on the axle which should be shipping out anyday now. Then i can get the suspension on it.

List of stuff still to go for phase 1:
Need wheels and tires (temps for now)
Need the tent bars built (have a guy for that)
Need to remove rust and paint
Need to go freaking camping then it will be on to phase 2.

Did a quick mock up of the new Compact Camping Concepts 1400lbs springs and shackles and compared to the old 2k slipper springs. Should tame any bouncing and give me a good amount of lift to help clear the 33's. Hoping i can burn these on soon. Got alot of rust removal to do first.

Got half the underside wirebrushed. Found some swiss cheese in there but it will be okay for now. Ill replace the floor sheet eventually. Shot some rustoleum on it for now. Will eventually coat the whole trailer with a roll on rust stop paint. Baby steps.

    Cool build

I scanned through your thread, and didn't see info on your awning. Maybe I missed it...
Could you share anything/something/info about it? Thanks

No problem. There are better awnings out there for the same price, but the no legs feature is nice
