Hey guys I just purchased an older usb/dongle kit from somebody on the forums. Looking forward to getting it all setup and flashed so I can join the tuned' crowd :bananadance:.

I need some help on registering the software to get my key. I got the email to register software yesterday, I followed the directions finished the CONFIG tab, but when I went to the TUNE tab, did the INSTALL OVTUNE CABLE DRIVERS, but P5FLASH UTILITY never lit up.
Played around and went back and forth, reclicked the antivirus and tried again. Eventually the P5Flash lit up and hit download. At the bottom of the window it said READY, but never got the Systen ID code window, but I did get an ID window but that code was the same as first code I sent in???
I sent it in with a note that I wasn't sure if it was correct. Still waiting to hear back.
I don't have that feeling this stage went right for me.
    A couple things to note:
1 The ECM calibration code shows 04B02, is this correct for a 16?
2 At the point where I went back and turned off the Anti virus (Windows Defender. Im using Windows 10 with Edge), I immediately got a bunch of Trojan horse virus attempts. Went back and ran scan and all was good, but I am getting that I hate this shit feeling.
Can anyone help? Im sure I misstepped somewhere.

I'm not sure about the Limited, but the Hitachi shocks on the Sport are pretty stiff. They're great for cornering at speed, but they'll make your teeth rattle
on crappy city streets. I swapped my struts and shocks for a set from an OR, and it made a big difference in ride quality.

OMG - my drive into work today was SO much better (40 miles). We have rolling hills around here and my truck never once downshifted into 3rd or 4th like it did before...it never left 5th or 6th gear and never lost any speed uphill :D

Also, the 87 performance completely changed the driving experience. The truck is so much more responsive and eager to get up to speed. The throttle is very sensitive, that's my only complaint.

Lastly, I filled up with gas last night with the truck running. When I put the gas cap back on, it started hunting for idle (kinda like a Honda with a bad IACV, if you know what I mean)...stopped after about 3 seconds...:notsure:

I have a limited. One of the reasons I chose it was the ride. I did not want the pro, so I did not test drive one. I drive a Sport and OR.

For me the Sport was stiff, stiffer than my 1st gen Pre-runner on Blisteins. I did not really care for the Sport's ride.
The OR was very soft with a fair amount of bounce.
The Limited was more of what I wanted in the ride. It was softer than the Sport, but did not feel as spongy as the OR. It seemed to handle the road better than the OR. It could be a bit softer, but of the 3 it was the ride most suited to my taste and needs.

I did get the Limited, and love the truck. It has done everything I have asked of it, from pulling trailers, hauling landscape stone or lumber, to hauling the grandson and groceries. The Taco is more comfortable than the wife's Rav so it is the vehicle of choice in most situations. The Rav wins out on longer trips due to mpg and those that we know will or will likely have tight quarters for parking etc.

04B02 is correct for a 16. See if the dealer will update your ECU with the TSB's for shifting enhancement. The first TSb will take you to 04B03 and the second will take you to 04B04 ('17 model software). But 04B02 will work until then. You don't register the software to get your key - you register your system (Computer) ID - that is what you send the Zendesk. If that is what you did, and you got your registration information that is what you have to "save" to your Registry ( be sure Windows Defender is off, then click on the key Mat sent you. Your computer will ask what you want to do --save...run, click save to registry. then close, reopen it and go to the Utility button and click "update" then proceed with P5Flash to download Tunes and to Flash to the ECU - be sure all Windows Defender and Anti Virus stuff is off. GL.

I have been to the New Terrain. We did the geotech there and got to go to a Not-Yet-Open-House over there. I could be persuaded to go again. I dont know the Toad.

Toad was going to move - where Terrain is - then the owners decided to split the business - so now there is the Toad (on Washington just down the hill as you go into Golden off of Hwy 58) and the Terrain. Anyway probably better to take this conversation to our local BS page. :)

I don't post much, but felt a need to give a shout out to OVTune for the outstanding product. I regeared to 4.88's four months ago, which made towing my camper much easier. I still felt it needed some improvement, so I recently pulled the trigger on the OVTune. I am sure glad I did, major improvement all around. The fun factor driving my Taco is up 300% (approximated, individual results may vary) lol

Thanks. Just so I understand this. There are 2 emails back to OVtune right before I get the registry to flash the truck? I tried following the download instructions that came with the email and I couldnt get it. The instructions seemed too ambiguous. Like theres no dongle, but the default box says dongle "yes", so do I change that or not? Thing I tried that and it took me to another link. I wish there was someone close by that could run this for me. Im just not that computer saavy when it comes to this stuff.
On the 04B02 youre saying that is the original ECU code and if the dealer flashes the TSB code that will change? I had the truck in twice for the flash, the first time they said they did it and there was no improvement. The second time about a month ago, I took it back in for the flash and they refused to do it because my truck has already been updated. Was this a bunch of BS from the dealer?
Thanks for the info, I will try it again later.

Well I just decided that I’m gonna get the tune since it’s required for the TT kit anyway. Hopefully this will hold me over for a little while.

To elaborate... I can’t stand this transmission and any increase in HP/TQ in the normally used RPM range will be more than welcomed!

Great news. Is Base with gear lock going to be an option with 2.0?

Installed base 97 about a month ago and am not overly impressed with it. Seems to shift up too soon and bogs out, then down shifts again or stays in the higher gear under light load and feels like its shuddering. Almost feels like its the stock program setting, lacks power under heavier acceleration. I was honestly expecting more of a difference I guess.
