My belt keeps jumping the pulley at the same spot on the water pump. Any idea why? All the idlers and tensioner have been replaced in the last year

How often does this happen ? Every time you first crank it up or randomly as your driving it. How old is the belt ?

Did you replace the idlers and tensioners your self or have it done.

The tensioner is nearly brand new. When I replaced the belt a few days ago the tensioner was very strong still

Replaced them myself. It’s been probably 20k miles since I did that. This issue is new as of this week.

It is possible if not installed right or maybe over tightened the pulley wont spin freely and cause this to happen.

Do you off road a lot. Water and bearings don't like each other. Maybe take the belt off and spin all pulleys by hand to see how free they spin. Cant hurt to try.

I removed and cleaned all pulleys a few days ago.

    Here’s a little time line.

2018 replaced idler pulleys (no issues)

June 2018....modified fan clutch to be “on” more

July 2018....belt shredded and got stuck behind crank pulley. Truck towed home

July 2018....brand new belt, crank pulley, and Entire tensioner assembly.

    JULY 2019....serp belt jumps pulley

JULY 2019...few days later and about 500 miles belt jumps again

To me it’s starting to look like it may be the fan clutch? I’m going to put it back to stock, or close to it

Not really anymore. I checked all of the pulleys the other day and they are all good to go

You might be right with that fan clutch. All it takes is one part of that system to hesitate and momentum takes over. Let us know if that stopped it or not.

Yeah I noticed if I really floor it the belt would squeak, likely from the fan clutch h being more engaged and having more resistance

Anybody else think the fan doesn't look right? A couple of those nuts don't look tightened down all the way.

I think I agree. I should definitely check those out. If they are loose it would explain this issue

Okay, then one of you pulleys is either junk or not lining up properly.

It would have to be one of the pulleys with grooves I would think. I have no clue because I checked every single pulley except the water pump.

The water pump has been replaced in the last year as well with an OEM pump

Unless your fan pulley is not SEATED correctly.
