I don't consider a laser cheating at all, and when it comes to a confrontation against bad guys, rules don't necessarily apply, anyway. I do believe that new gunners should learn to use a firearm effectively and safely before relying on the red dot of death.
While on the subject of aiming, I've often wondered- if it's too dark to see your front sight, how can you be sure enough of your target to pull the trigger? Therefore, what good are night sights? I'm just thinking... and I guess threadjacking as well...sorry.

night sights work great in low light situations...not necessarily "dark" but certainly not daylight either

you can be sure of your target...and you may be able to see a normal front sight...but making it easier to see in low light can help

After years of shooting IPSC matches (open and limited class) I've acquired the skills necessary to index a pistol on target.

Dimonback brings up a good point; knowing your target. I always carry a Surefire flashlight. Knowing your target (and what's beyond) is key.

I love mine and I'm actually about to go shoot it some now, and $450 is a decent price for the gun and the CT laser. I got the Satin Chrome model at a gunshow for $299 out the door and the same guy was selling the standard model with the CT laser and extra mag for $450 so if you can go to a gun show and do some dealing i'm sure you could save a few bucks.

The February 2010 issue of American Rifleman tested the Ruger LCP and eight other .380 ACP pocket pistols. They said the LCP was small, light and thin with snappy almost painful recoil and the tiny sights preclude a proper sight picture in anything but bright daylight. There were numerious feedway malfunctions so it needs lots of break in and careful amunition selection (they didn't recomend any brands).
Consider the Taurus 738 TCP, it was low priced, had only two failure to feeds in 100 rounds and comes with a nylon case that clips to your belt.
Would I buy one? No. I have a Beretta 32 and would like to step up to a larger caliber pocket rocket. Any recomendations for me?

I know I am late to respond to this thread. However, I needed to add my 2 cents...

All of the compact 380 automatics require at least 100 rounds through them to be properly broken in for reliable carry. It is not uncommon for these "mouse" guns to have feeding failures during this break-in period.

In complete contrast to the American Rifleman article, I have had MUCH less reliability problems in my shop with the Ruger LCP versus the Taurus TCP. The TCPs tend to be MUCH more picky about what ammunition they will work, and absolutely would not work with American Eagle ammunition. Which was a major problem, last year, when American Eagle was the least expensive 380 ammunition I was able to stock.

If you are looking for a carry gun the Diamond Back .380 it's a real nice gun and very Glock-like which I like also... I have one and I love it.

DB is fairly new right? They make boats I think in Cocoa Beach, Fl and now make glock like .380's.

    Local shops price a LCP @ $317 w/o laser.

I haven't had any jams with only 100 rounds through it so far but no jams so that's good if you ask me... Yes they do make air boats if I'm not mistaken.
