I like the look from the outside but, not so fond of the view from inside. Its a little too high.

When i picked up my used 2016 it fell out of warranty before I could get it in to the local dealer....so I used the 3M material earlier in this thread. It's been about 6 months and plenty of hot weather and hwy driving and it's all holding up well. I would trade it for a sport hood though cause.....race truck ;)

Haven’t noticed any particular hood vibration on my 2019 OR.

I mean besides all the other vibrations...

I agree with this partially... this is a super easy fix. Somethings are better off taking in, getting documented & wasting a lot of time at the dealer but this is a one & done kinda thing that anyone should be able to do on their own. Premature drivetrain issues yes... squeaky door no!

As to OP's comment that the dealer would get an unpainted hood I would say hell no! Probably come back not aligned properly & orange peeled super bad. You made the right move on this one I think

Read through this the other night and found the same thing on my ‘19. Purchased end of May, I know the dealer had it for 60 days at least. I had noticed some vibs while driving in the hood but thought it was just the angle I was sitting compared to my DD.

Adding it to the list when I have it serviced first time.

    Thanks for posting.

Man screw doing that yourself, have the dealer give you a brand new hood like I did with my 2019. That was the first thing I noticed on my brand new truck I specially ordered, was the vibrating hood. Popped the hood and noticed it wasn't glue properly and they agreed to replace the whole hood. A couple weeks after I brought the truck home they called me to let me know my hood was in. Took them about 10 days to make the swap and in doing so they scratched my door on the outside, chipped the inside of the door panel, forgot to put on my hood seals, left my windshield washer sprayers dangling to get damaged, and the new hood still vibrated. I made them order me a new truck of the exact same model.

I doubt if you have the dealer do yours that all this would happen to your truck, it was just the lazy "I don't care" attitude from the mechanic that worked on my truck fault. Even when I met him and was being cool he just gave off a bad vibe like I was causing him to have a bad day or something. Screw that dude, I hope he thinks twice before he loses his job to someone who'd love to be working for Toyota.

(Edit: The replacement hood was also not aligned properly but paint job was on point)

I just noticed this the other day, popped the hood and at the middle of the hood the foam glue is cracked... Noticed some spots that don't have the foam glue, did you guys glue those too or just the spots that already have some foam glue?

Mine is doing the same thing at 20,000 miles. Had it looked at during the routine service.

Service manager is claiming it is Normal and it is supposed to do that. Also claims the two are Not supposed to be bonded and the foam is there only to keep the metal from rubbing together a d not as an adhesive

Long as the foam is intact it is fine. And he claims the Toyota field rep confirmed this info.

I had the same issue at 1,200 miles. I brought it into the dealership and they are actually going to just replace the entire hood, they don't even try to fix it anymore since apparently after fixing the middle section, eventually the rest of the adhesive experiences problems. I'm not sure how replacing the hood will turn out... if it messes up again, I'll ask 'em for a Sport one. ;P

I at least plan on having mine looked at when I take mine in next so it is recorded but I'm not a fan of getting a new hood, having it painted and risk other damage or a bad paint job done on my new truck. I also have Xpel on my hood and I'm not sure they would redo that at no cost so its seems like a loss for me.

I actually specified this and they are replacing the XPEL on the entire hood as well, no cost. But mine is pretty new.

Yeah mine is only 2 months old with 1k miles on it. Hopefully they do the same for me. I should add that I did the Xpel myself, it was not done by the dealer. So that may not work out for me.

Mine was bad from the day I brought it home; just went in for my 5K miles dealer maintenance on a 19 TRD Offroad and asked them to fix it. They sent the truck to their preferred auto body shop, but then called me and said it can't be fixed and they are ordering me a new hood. Sigh......maybe I'll just show them this thread. I'm guessing the design is poor and the body shop didn't want the liability who knows.

They did the same to me, new hood - it's because there is a high failure rate with the dealership fix when they add new adhesive. Instead of having us bring it back again they just replace the whole hood now, for better or for worse.

Make dealer fix it under warranty. Once you touch it, you have just given them the excuse “ sorry you repaired it yourself, not our problem”
