Hey so I was wondering what your guys opinions are running a 6 inch lift with 35s. Is this a dumb idea? Does it take away from the cars performance in trails and off roading? Would a 4 inch lift be better? Any info is helpful. Thanks in advance. I've had a small car my whole life so my knowledge is not very great.

Do you want to cut into the truck?
    @KTJO 4x4 has a 6in lift on her truck.

A 3” lift is better. You also need to regear with 35’s. Welcome to TW.

No, I would definitely not want to cut into it. So if that's the case I will not consider it. Hey Matmo215 with the 3. You got pretty good clearance with 33s?

Lots of Hawaiian trucks with these bigger kits. I like the look but it’s not for me.

A 6 or 4 inch lift requires cutting the cross member out to drop the diff. Hence the name drop bracket lift.
Also does not increase function of the truck.
Stick to 2.5 inches on the lift and look for aftermarket control arms with adjustable caster. Then a good set of 33's (skinny ones not 285s) and the truck will handle just about anything

The 255/85/16 doesnt require cutting but I think mounted on the stock rim they may rub the uca, so wheel spacers are needed or a proper rim with correct back spacing to push it out.

I think personally this is a horrible conversation to have on here because you are going to get bashed. I personally say do what you want. It all depends on how hard you ride your truck, what purpose you have for your truck, etc. There are a ton of individuals that have cut their truck and their trucks are some of the best ones out there. Then there are some of those that have cut their trucks and they are some of the shittiest ones out there. Yes. I have cut my truck but I also think that I have have taken the time to do the research and have put together a great setup. I would never go back. I absolutely love my setup. I’m not a rock crawler tho. Could I rock crawl. Yes. However, when I went with this setup, that was not my plan. My biggest word of advice is have an idea of what you plan to do with your truck. I am running a 6” BDS with 35s and 18s. Feel free to check out my build and if you have any questions, let me know.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
This is an excellent choice running this size tire with a choice lift. I have had the 6” lift, and the trucks road manners can get wonky, and then you spend stupid money on chasing issues, to only have twice what you should have in a good setup.
In general, if you roll with a 6” lift and keep some of the stock suspension pieces, the truck will have no more flex than it did stock.
My ‘12 had a 6” Fabtech and 35s, but it was not a real offroad truck (or rather I bought it that way and knew what it was). It satup so high it would get tippy, again unless you change out everything its not flexy at all.
Let’s say for pure shits and giggles, you just want it for looks. I would still go with a nice ADS, King, Fox or Icon lift over a 6” diff drop lift.
You will thank yourself later as the money you spend on a nice 2.5-3” lift will make your truck ride so much better.
The 6” will still be a rougher ride.

If you need to park a lot in parking structures you may want to reconsider a tall lift. Some are really low.

True, however if you have a hard time finding your car in parking lots. A 6” lift will surely make you stick out.

My very forgetful friend has a mini cooper, and when we go to the big ikea or mall lot, she'll stop and get a red helium balloon and a long piece of string.
