It's not as bad once you get past the Route 3 interchange to go to 'Bah Hahbah' but prior to that it's definitely not where you want to be.

Yeah I think you are dead on with your points here. A lot of the time I wasn't even in the truck, just walking around town or being in a store. I guess it's probably obvious whose a tourist in these areas so maybe I just stuck out. I'm not scared of someone being standoffish, but a lot of the behavior I found was just rude. Anyways, lesson learned and I will stay North from now on!! I should have paid a little more attention to stuff when I booked it.

Going to Maine end of August so I'll get some good times in then, tends to be a little less crowded then too.

As stated, you were basically in Rotten Chester, big shit hole. If you had gone 15 to 20 minutes west, I bet you would have been happier. Should have found a place on the Winny, but that’s touristy.

    Where are you living now?
Enjoy every minute of your guys wedding. I am not a very outgoing person in large groups but our wedding was a different story. I was able to put aside nerves, upset relatives, negative comments about the cold weather and just focus on her and I.
That's a nice list of accomplishments there.

I liked Acadia quite a bit but I was very unprepared.
I waited to long to try to get my canoe registered.
We had planned on bringing our Canoe and Kayaks up there to get out on the water but this was a last minute trip.

I needed more time there to get more hikes in. My wife and her sister were beat after there first big hike and I couldn't get them rested up enough to take Precipice or Beehive trail after that.
The views were great. All the locals we met (in all of Maine actually) were great.
I would however plan a return trip in the fall. I would love to see it with less people. The amount of people there almost got me into two vehicle accidents. The heat index kept the bulk of the visitors off the trails which was nice.

I did about run over some hikers the first day.
We spent the first afternoon driving around the park just self-exploring.
At one of the pulls offs a car ahead of me pulled off the road into the gravel parking area. I saw him pull over and thought he was picking up the hikers sitting on the side of the road. I don't think either of them saw me because the driver pulled back into the road in front of me. At the same time the hiker couple started to cross the road in front of his bumper. I have never braked so hard in my life. The tundra brakes got me stopped about 18" from his back bumper. a bundle of firewood bounced from the cargo area to the back seat and cut my sister-on-laws leg. My wife started yelling at them and they gave us the finger and drove off.

I have never driven in traffic that scary though. Anytime I let my guard down, I would come around a corner to find hikers walking down the middle of the road, someone tourist stopping in the middle of the road to look at a deer, or my favorite, one little boy pushed his (presumably) brother into the street in downtown bar harbor.

One of my all time favorites. Get some fishing in? The smallmouth bite is amazing out there. When the switch goes on they hammer it

Yeah that is the plan so far, wife likes taking the dogs around the lake. I need to get some bigger tires on the trailer so I can speed on up though.

    edit: Maybe something like this?

    https://www.etrailer.com/Tires-and-Wheels/Taskmaster/TTWSF48012C.html

I also need to bring the boat to a local lake and make sure it starts up alright before I trailer it 6 hours for no reason each way.

Fished from the kayak all weekend. Lots of big small mouth! they all fought like crazy, and jumped clear out of the water when they hit. We had great luck there this year.

Did you have the bald eagles following you around? They normally come about when you start pulling fish out

In Weare, NH. So much closer to VT spots now. Haha.
Those hikers sound like a huge pain! How'd that bumper come out btw? Not sure if I ever saw

There was a pair of them fishing by site 30, on the west side of the lake. The female watched us from the trees. The picked off a couple fish pretty close to us. The loons would pop up next to us too. Had one come up about 30' from the kayak.

I don't know if anyone is interested or not but I just replaced my small boat, so the Starcraft has got to go. I'm not craigslisting it or anything so if you know anyone interested, let them know. It's not a showpiece, it's a fishing boat but it's very well maintained and 100% turn key. If I were keeping it the only thing I would do is replace the trailer tires since they are somewhat old, but they have good tread and I have pulled it a bunch this year. I can talk more if anyone is interested.

I have a buddy who's been looking at picking up a boat; I'll ask him if he might be interested. What's your ballpark ask?

I had second thoughts during the lead time after I ordered it but I am really happy with how it came out. I'll add some amber fogs in the open areas of the wings eventually. The approach angle is awesome when it comes to getting a tire up on an obstacle now.
