Are you talking about the Transmission fluid Temperature, or the Engine oil Temperature? The previous two posts are referring to the 3rd Gen, 4 cylinder/Auto Trans Temp. (Sorry but I'm confused)

This thread is about transmission fluid temperature. These guys are talking about Engine Oil temperature, which the truck does not read

Thanks Tow-coma, I asked that the stealership check the level of trans fluid on my 18, 2.7, auto trans before I took delivery. While the tech was doing this procedure, I was standing off to the side talking to him. (not a good habit to get into.) He was quoting to me that he was reading trans fluid temps from his computer interface, while waiting for the trans to warm up. Was he lying to me?
I'm going in for my 6 month checkup in two weeks. I'll ask him what he was reading.

Do you have the Engine oil Temp PID that you could share with us?

I don’t know how to share it. If you could tell me how to extract the information I will. I purchased the Toyota add on package in OBD fusion and it was in to engine section.

I found a Torque app PID that appears to work on my '18 2.6L 4 cyl, auto trans 4X4.

    Name:Transmission Temp (Converter)
    Shortname: Converter Temp
    Mode and PID: 2182
    Equation: ((((C * 256) + D ) * (7/100)-400)/10)
    Min Value: -40
    Max Value: 325
    Units: F

I tried using the Torque Pro App with a cheap OBD2 dongle. I cannot seem to get reading from the transmission (using a 2016 Tacoma, V6 AT).

Do i have to enter the PID and the OBD Header in hexadecimal or as you stated in your instruction?

I am able to get all sorts of sensors readings from the Torque App and my OBD2 Dongle (it connects fine) but cannot seem to make the Transmission sensor readings...

    Should I get a better OBD2 reader?

I've got the BAFX ~$20 one I got off of Amazon and it works fine. Enter the info just as it appears in my instructions. Good luck.

I'm running on my '16 V6 190F on highway speeds...

Haven't had the chance to try with the travel trailer but 190 degrees Fahrenheit, without towing anything, seem high to me, when it's about 70F outside...

What are you guys typical transmission temperatures?

With an ambient temp of around 80F, I run 170F Pan and 180F Converter. I'm running the I4 engine without a tow package on fairly flat secondary roads, with stop signs every 5 miles. Converter varies a lot more than the pan, naturally. I don't have a trans cooler installed yet.

190 is what I was running with my 2016 SR5 2wd with tow package. I thought that was too high. I pined the thermostat and now I never go over 170 degrees

So we have a 2019 Ford F-150 police responder as one of our work vehicles. I was playing around looking at the info it provides on the display. This was the transmission temp after a 30 minute drive, on 20 miles on the interstate and about 4 miles in town.

here is the full load out if you need it. this looks like the same pid for my 2014 4runner.

    Code:
Name ShortName ModeAndPID Equation Min Value Max Value Units Header
    Transmission Temp (pan) Trans temp (pan) 2182 ((((A * 256) + B ) * (7/100)-400)/10) -40 325 F
    Transmission Temp (Converter) Converter Temp 2182 ((((C * 256) + D ) * (7/100)-400)/10) -40 325 F
