    New to the forum and new to tacos so please excuse the ignorant question but...

    I just got a 2019 TRD Sport Double-cab. Is that considered a 3rd gen? Is there a 4th gen?

    Welcome to the site. Yours is a 3rd Gen. 4th Gen will probably not be seen until 2025.

    1st gen = 1995 - 2004
    2nd gen = 2005 - 2015 (refreshed 2012-2015)
    3rd gen = 2016+

    Welcome to TW, no 4th gen that I know of. The worst rumor I've heard so far is Toyota is going to re-badge the Ford Ranger and market it as a 4th gen Tacoma.

    2020 will be 3rd gen facelift. New front fascia, tail lights, and stereo. Facelifts are usually half way through a cycle.

    I admit the red wasn't my first choice but it was the only taco in a thousand miles with a manual tranny, literally. Now that I have it, I love it.

    When it debuts, the 4th gen will be the most loathed Tacoma yet. Even 3rd gen owners will have something to rip on.

    If you read enough comments you will feel as if there's a hierarchy of Tacomas on TW. Even though it doesn't exist. Somehow 3rd gen is at the bottom of the list. The comments were much harsher a few years ago when the 2016s debuted.

    I'm on my second 3rd gen Tacoma and this is by far the best Tacoma to date. Great truck, enjoy.
