I used the performance 87 tune and it's got some pep to it now. My only issue (minor) is how sensitive the throttle is, not that big a deal though, just had to get used to it.

Yep, and they are awesome. I hold 5th uphill and 6th on the flat towing my pontoon boat which has never happened

Before I spend the 300 bucks on a hyper tech...are there any plans to be able to pretext speedo through the tune? I’ve seen it talked about here and there but never saw a solid answer.

I'm thinking I want 4.88s even with stock size tires. Tires will be replaced probably next year. Decisions...

I’m thinking the same thing. My truck is completely stock. Even with the tune, the grades I drive through cause way too much gear hunting. I spend a lot of time (work and business in the Tahoe area).

Also, I regularly pull about 3000 pounds worth of trailer + gear and passengers.

The tune helps a lot, but still a frustrating drive at times.

They aren’t cheap, but depending on your needs, worth it

To help put it in perspective. I drive the same hill on my way home and with the tune, no gears, it always drops to 4th (without my boat) going up it.

With the 4.88’s it holds 5th year WITH my boat in tow and the extra weight my truck has (not stock). I weighed my truck and it’s 5500lbs without the trailer and boat.

Now my boat is not heavy, nor is the trailer (450lbs total or so), but I’ve never been able to hold 5th on that hill. The shifting just needs a little tweaking with the 4.88 tune and it should be cherry.

    Running 87 base.

I'm running 87 performance and drive in S mode. I shift down to 5th on my own in anticipation of hills. Seems the truck won't do it until I've lost 5mph and then shifts back to 6th halfway up the hill. And repeat if the hill is long enough so I choose 5th on my own.

I called a gear place local to me and because I have very low miles he said they wouldn’t need to replace some of the parts that go along with the regear. He quoted me 1600 out the door front and rear. I’m hopping on the deal. He’s booked up till mid August so who knows maybe by that time Ovtune will have a gift for people running 4.88’s:fingerscrossed:

Try 91 base 1.05.1 which is the shudder fix as far as the early upshifting that's being fixed in 2.0 so for now you can use the sequential shift mode (the S on the shifter that everyone likes to call sport mode for some reason) which will allow you to force it to stay in a lower gear till you want to allow it to upshift or drive with ECT mode on all the time which should help with the early upshifting a bit.

Not sure how many replies you will get from Mat before receiving the License/Registry key - which is your computer System ID along with your name. You can download the Tune Software without this - but you can not get the p5flast to execute "tune" flashes without it. Just save it to your computer (it will be in the download file) then click on the saved file and reply yes when prompted if you want to add it to the registry. Be sure the virus software is off when doing this and any downloads and flashes. The All of the Tune Software should be visible and usable. You should click on Utility - then update. Use NO dongle. On a side note - if your ECU reads 04B02 it could be that it came in as 04B01 and was updated as the stealer/dealer stated - but they should update it to 04B03 at a minimum - go do a search on TSB's in this forum and print out the TSB for shifting enhancements and take it with you to the dealer and tell them these are the symptoms and you want them to perform the TSB - hand them the copy. Check your local TW site to see if there are any Tune users near you - pretty sure they will help you out. I would but Golden Colorado may be a ways to travel to. GL.

Thanks Golden Brew, I camee home and turned off the windows virus security. opened it all up again and undongled the dongle, resent the system ID code. Lets see when it comes back. If it works Id buy you a beer, may be in Southwestern Colorado in August on 2 wheels. Hell even if it didn't work Id still buy you one. Im having a Coors Banquet right now.
