This is correct. I'd recommend disconnecting the brake line and ABS wire, and the. Take the spindle and half shaft off the truck entirely. That will give.you more room to work like a civilized person.

The reason the CV nut is so crucial is because it holds the wheel bearing together. Too tight or too loose and it will really hurt your bearing life. On the extreme end of that, I know someone who didn't know this, blew a CV, and proceeded to drive home without the cv installed. Wheel bearing came apart as he was entering the highway and almost lost his damn tire.
You can do precisely this. This is essentially what I did this past week when I removed my diffs for a regear. I've never tried this for an ECGS bushing install, and I fear that driving the bushing in may be tricky. I usually use a race and seal driver set, with a cheater pipe on the end, and a 3lb hammer to hit it in. Otherwise you'll be there all day.

Thanks guys. This is what somebody sent in another thread from his install. I'm also wondering how theres room to drive in the new bushing. Especially without even separating the tie rod end.

I imagine just a lot of patience.

With all that said, it is very handy having the larger torque wrench. I have one that goes to 150 and another to 250. The bigger one is awesome because of all the increased leverage. Even the two LCA->spindle bolts get torqued to 118. The big wrench makes easy work of that. The tekton one on Amazon is about $55. You'd also need a 35mm socket if you don't have one already.

    A thing or two...
3rd gen people... who's running one of the plug-n-play remote start kits? I've got a friend with a 3rd gen, and he's interested in getting one. What brand do you have? How do you like it?

@BFRT_King Ranch is running one if I remember correctly.

That's going to be a shitty day. But it doesn't take that much force to hammer in the bushing. The new gasket is a bigger pain in the ass.

I was gonna say the opposite haha they’re so easy

2” pvc coupler works perfectly. Just baaaarely tap it in. But also, fuck those things. If the seal isn’t leaking, and you don’t damage it when removing the CV, don’t fuck with it. I’ve now installed 5-6 seals on my passenger side because I was trying to be preventative. This most recent time, I followed the FSM to a T. Used a caliper to ensure it was in spec. And I think it’s still leaking, need to double check.

I ordered one because mine actually is leaking on the driver side. It hasn't left a puddle in my driveway or anything, I actually havent even noticed a drop on the driveway, but it is wet where the CV mates with the diff. I've also been getting a weird humming from the front diff that comes and goes. Not really a vibration like others have gotten more of a humming that I can hear and kinda feel it under my feet. Both of those started very recently, after my lift so hopefully the ECGS bushing fixes it

Well good luck with the seal. Getting the oem one out can be frustrating. A slide hammer (you can rent one) will pop it out easily.

Or I use this. Stick it behind the seal, and the tool will rock back 90° and pull it out easily.

Have the 12v solutions one. All plug and play. Wouldn't live without it. If there's issues the owner guy is uber responsive.

I should be... You are correct though. I bought one ( 12v Solutions) but I haven't gotten around to installing it yet. Considering it's a 20 min install that makes me look like a real POS but my life is always so hectic when I am home. I am home again in October and will make sure I install it then so the misses will have it during the winter when she drives the truck. Sorry I can't provide any feedback on it.
