I actually have the same thing happen, but I noticed it on the one day it decided to rain in southern california. So it is definitely an issue just not a huge one for me with where I live. Opened the door and there was a bunch of water on the door sill. Can't tell if it would have been more if it rained harder, but if it didn't make it into the carpet portion in hard rain I would consider it acceptable.

Me? No. I have a weird thing about dealers and have had bad experiences in the past. At this point unless there is a TSB or a major issue, I prefer not to go through the risk/hassle of taking it in.

I have the same issue happen just this week...

My seatbelt spool gets wet from behind the door panel . Water drips out of the access cab inside door handle, and the seatbelt bump stop ... and seeps out the bottom of the panel.

also a spot on the drivers seat gets wet. right near where the seat belt clip hangs, but it doesn't touch the seat... only a wet area on seat

no water on headliner or carpet.

there isn't any visible damage to the weather-stripping ...

all i can think to do is pull the door panel and spray with a hose

I pulled panel and sprayed ... Leaking at the pillar right above the seat belt and wire harness ..

I put some weather sealant silicone at the spot but after a dry and another hose down it still leaked, but less

Next plan is to keep panel off for the rain storm coming and use some double sided tape and maybe more silicone... But I wanna try to keep it oem as possible

If that fails then I need a new weather strip I'm guessing... Or door is unaligned but nothing happened to make me think that

I noticed this same issue this morning. Heavy rains last night and when I opened the door this morning, water poured out of that hole at the bottom of the door. Just hoping it isn’t rusting from the inside out.

I have a 19 and had a 17. Water ran out that hole when opening the door on both. I assumed it was normal. I thought the same thing. The bottom of the door is going to rust at the bottom from the inside - out

It happens on the 19. Exactly the same like the 17.

I assume that is the purpose of this the hole.

You took the words right out of the mouth of Toyota, “This is normal.”

I’ve had many Toyotas over the years. None did this. Nor do my other cars. Can’t see much good out of water being contained within a door

Those are drain holes. Water can get past all the window molding and travel down inside the door. Sometimes debris also gets in there and kinda clogs them up. The water is getting trapped and then flowing when you open the door. Take a can of compressed air or an air compressor and blow the drain holes out. Or you can take off the door panel and try and get in there and clean/flush them out.

I have the same problem, yes they're drain holes, but only drain when the door is open. Otherwise the water just sits on the bottom inside of the door and RUSTS it out, kinda like the frames of the late 90's Tacoma, this is a flaw.

You need the 3/4hp bilge pump mod. $840 last time I looked.

And probably clean the bottom of your doors and all the drain holes located thereupon.

So I took it to the dealer today and was told "all vehicles do that, they're not sealed." I've had about 20 vehicles and this was the first one that stores water inside the door until you open it!

After having rain all day, I found out I have the same problem. Passenger side front door is leaking at the bottom between the plastic door panel and the door frame. Water is pooling on the threshold between the inner and outer weatherstripping. This can’t be normal. I’m debating on pulling the door panel myself or taking it to toyota. I know it’s normal to get water in the door but it should drain from the weep holes and not get on the plastic door panel.
