Put 255/85/16s on stock OR wheels and suspension

So it looks like there's enough of a difference between the diameters of the km3, km2 & st maxx that would effect fitting a spare, clearance as well as mpg.

I'm going 74mph at a speedometer indicated 70mph with my KM3s. Is that in line with the other brands?

That seems to indicate that km3s would be *more likely* to fit than KM2s.

I dunno man. My advice would be to just make the spare fit if its important to you. But then again my advice would also be to get maxx's unless you wheel often (which I doubt if youre determined to leave a spare in the stock location) cause living on mud tires is full of compromises.

 

Also @helix66 if youre worried about putting a spare in your bed since it looks like you haul bikes, you could always stand it up on its side and ratchet it down. Thats where i put my 315 spare, and ive got plenty of room for other things in the bed and could easily fit my bike if i took the topper off. Just a thought.

 

For a day trip it’s no big deal but I usually I have a cooler, gas cans, chair, ramp and stand and not much room for anything else, especially a tire.

It looks like the km3 is smaller than the 2 and the cooper is even smaller. I might go that route, also for the more AT tread pattern.

 

This site has a tire size calculator that y can punch in the numbers and it’ll tell you the sped difference.

 

I'm currently running Total Chaos UCAs with stock OR wheels and 255/85r16 ST Maxx's. I have not had any clearance issues.

 

Any chance you could get a picture of your clearance between the tire and UCA?

Appreciate it! I found a local performance shop that is going to do a final alignment. If they can't get it where I need it I'll be pulling the trigger on some UCAs.

 

Here are the photos. I had someone hold the steering wheel at full lock to take these. Without manually holding it, the wheels settle back to center a fair amount, so keep that in mind.

Edit: I didn't grab photos of it turned the other way because there is a lot more clearance on the back of the UCA. This is the driver side, but both driver and passenger were similar.

Was still rubbing my rear fender well going down steep inclines while turning. Fixed that issue today. Btw. Before suspension, truck was running great on stock. 18.5 mpg average and really felt the transmission shifting when they were supposed to vs. looking for the right gear.

 

Please bear in mind that JBA uppers are not designed the same as the other ucas on the market and actually stick out noticeably farther than all of them, so the TC data point isnt useful if youre still considering JBAs (which you should, because theyre awesome, greasable, and easy to replace the ball joint on later if you ever need to)

 

Yeah I can't justify the cost of new wheels and would prefer to no run spacers of any sort, so I am probably choosing between SPC UCAs and Total Chaos. It would probably end up being SPC, due to cost and non-uniball design. Thanks for looking out though.

 

JBAs are cheaper than SPCs, at least at retail, by almost $100, and arent "adjustable"- read: an alignment shop wont get scared of them. But hey man, you do you, im not trying to sell anyone anything

 

They are indeed cheaper, but according to their product page ("Please Note: 32.7" and larger diameter tires need aftermarket wheels with less then factory wheel back space."), and talking to support, in order to run them I'd have to spend over $100 on new wheels or spacers. I've got a performance shop a mile from my house that can handle adjustables.
