Does anyone use a rooftop tent for camping? If so what brand and what type of rack did you have to buy?

Stand by for the influx of responses. I have a Smittybilt RTT under the Softopper. Got it for 599.00 shipped and it works well. All tucked away.

Yes. Got mine directly from the manufacturer that the major RTT companies use. It's not stamped or branded so it cost 1/3 the cost of any major brand RTT.

I use a prinsu roof rack

KB VooDoo Outboard Bike Mount. I had 2 and sold one. This might be the last surviving mount.

No issues for me. I believe my SR5 payload rating is 1,380 lbs. My tent and crossbars combined are probably around 130 lbs. My lady, some gear and I in the tent and add another 275 lbs. Add some firewood and gear totes in the bed below... and I am still well under 1380 lbs.

I'm running stock springs with Bilstein 5100's front (+.6") and rear with no problems thus far.

I can't answer that as I have front and rear Kings and a 3 Leaf Progressive AAL in the rear.

I too am using the BAMF low pro. Does your roof rack cut down on the wind noise of the RTT going down the road?

:notsure: I haven't noticed road noises in trucks for awhile now. Between my duratracs, the RTT, the roof rack, all the stuff I travel with.

I can still hold a conversation in the cab and hear when my shocks bottom out. So I'm probably not much help in this area

Alu-Cab Explorer Canopy, 23 Zero 72" RTT, Rhino Rack Batwing Awning, ARB Suspension, 235/85R16 K02 tires, Hondo radio knobs, Taco Garage DMM...
For me, yes. I have a 72" tent on top an Alu-cab canopy. It was fine for daily driving, but loaded up for camping with 2 adults and 2 kids, I'm 300lb over GVM and was constantly bottoming out. I went with an OME suspension. Quite happy with it now. Even without the tent, just with the canopy, the back end sat lower than the front. So the stock suspension wasn't very good for much past an empty truck.
