Alignment Specs (heeelp!)

My 2019 with 2” lift & 285/70/17’s, stock UCA’s, they just finished, waiting to pay.

 

Just got mine done and im rubbing at full lock... should i get cmc or another alignment ?

 

Where are you rubbing? Cab mount?

Alright I've been doing my research all morning as my truck sits at the shop for an alignment. Shop guy called earlier asking what numbers I want the specs at, didn't have an answer as I have no knowledge at alignments. So I told him factory specs and we'll go from there. After reading this thread post by post, I'd like to get a final opinion on what my recommended specs should be set at. @splitbolt you seem to have a lot of knowledge so any input you have would be great!

Below are my lift/tire specs:

-Maxtrac 4" spindles, 1.5" strut spacers, 5100's set at 0 w/stock coil, SPC UCA's
- OME leaf pack (3" lift), 1.5" blocks
-315/75/16 Dick Cepek, 16x8 -12mm pro comp 69 series

Original wheels/tires:
265/65/17 bfg rugged terrain
17x8 tss wheels

 

Hard to say without seeing the SAI; hopefully your alignment sheet has it. This would only affect the caster I'd recommend...

If SAI is close to stock, I'd go:
-caster +4.0
-camber +0.5
-toe +0.05

 

I wanted to say thanks to all those of this thread who provided their insight as to a correct alignment. I can post my specs if you want them, but had my alignment redone after ~$3000 miles using the caster numbers given (+2.4) and it made a world of difference. Again, thanks

 

Resurrecting an older thread. Just added 5100/887 and 255/85/16 Falken MT’s. Had alignment done with tire mount. These are my numbers. I am still on factory UCA’s. From what I read here, I am understanding that I prob want more caster though I have to admit, I’m a fairly smart guy but I don’t understand this very well. Anyway, on my stock UCA’s would they be able to adjust the caster any more? Thanks for the wealth of knowledge!

 

I literally know nothing about how to read this. I asked to have my wheels moved forward as much as they could to help alleviate rub, I do have the cmc done as well as spc ucas.

 

He maxed your caster at the expense of your camber. You may wear the inside of your tires prematurely. Should have been able to get that camber in spec with the separate adjustment on the SPC UCAs. I would have reversed those side to side caster readings to compensate for road crown. Do you have a rear lift? Your rear axle may have shifted slightly

I'm on 255/85/16 2" inch up front with stock ucas - tires plus could get me to 1.0/1.5 caster with 0.9 camber. I'll be buying new UCAs sometime soon...

 

OK suspension gurus, what do you think of my setup?

Bilstein 5100 with OME 888s- 2.5" Lift in front, AAL + 1/2" block for 2.5" in back
JBA UCAs
285/70/17 BFG KO2s an TRD Sema wheels- 4.5 BS -11 (I think) offset

It seems to track fine and drive fine but I am rubbing the cab mount and (trimmed) flares. Suggestions PLEASE..

I used the wheel/tire combo off my 2017 with 2" lift, stock UCAs and no rubbing. How can I have more lift and still rub?? Need more caster?

 

Aftermarket UCAs and that's all the caster they could get? Another degree caster and you may not rub (at least on the cab)

 

Getting it re aligned Friday. What should I tell him to shoot for?

 

Assuming you got the JBA UCAs with built in caster you should be able to get 3 to 3.5 Degrees caster.

 

Technically, nothing is wrong with the alignment so if you didn't tell them to max the caster for cab clearance they might put up an argument. Or maybe they're just a great customer oriented shop that wants you to be happy. Not a lot of that anymore but honestly they would have a good point if they made the above argument

 

Yes I did not tell them anything. Just started looking into it after the rubbing. Figured it wouldn’t be an issue with a taller lift and new UCAs, since it was not an issue before. I’m not expecting it to be free, although they are shod shop and may work with me. They did just charge me 900 for the lift install too so...

 

Shops that aren't used to working on cars/trucks with aftermarket suspension are just going to try and hit the "green". The tech's aren't going to touch your SPC adjustable arms if they have never seen them before, especially if you haven't provided them with the install instructions. Likely if they can get it in the "green" by just adjusting the cams on the lower control arm they are going to do it. Adjusting camber and caster on the SPC upper's is not difficult but it does require a couple additional steps. I'm a desk jockey at an automotive shop and I just did an alignment on my own truck after I lowered the front a 1/2 inch. It took less than 40 minutes but only because I knew what specs I wanted and that I already had the lower cams in the position I wanted them. Unless it is a shop that regularly sees lifted trucks assume you know more about alignments than they do.
