Anyone in here ever fished Lake Waccamaw in NC? Gonna be there for 4 days starting August 2nd. Trying to get tips on bass fishing it in the heat of summer. Kind of a wierd lake....9000 acres like a shallow crater. Deepest spots are 11-12 ft. Real gradual shallows around the shore. Water temps get pretty warm this time of year I imagine.

Bass tend not to be found when it's a constant 100 degrees outside. :bananadead:Unless you fish deep water baits.
    Like super deep water.

Hey there folks. I just got into fishing here in the great PNW! I have a river about a 5 minutes drive from my place that has Bass and other fish. I have been fishing in the past but I just got serious about it. Hope to learn a lot from you all!

    Gear I have is:
    • Fenwick Eagle with Pflueger President XT
    • Okuma SST with Okuma Magda Baitcaster
    • Plano organizer for obvious reasons

I like the worm hooks 02,03,04. Senko worms--junebug, morning dawn, watermelon redflake, baby bass, sweet tater pie, bream, rainbow trout. All decent colors. Usually Texas rigged but occasionally I put in a sinker on the front by the hook. Palomar knot.

So if it’s a river I’m assuming they could be smallmouth or largemouth but may be primarily smallies. If that is the case, use your spinners, small crankbaits, topwater, and smaller jigs and craws etc.

If largemouth lizards are great, worms of many styles like senkos and curly tails, also fluke minnows weightless.

Smallmouth are definitely more aggressive and seem to be more active especially with topwater, but largemouth get way bigger when mature. Either way just try different stuff and post pics when you catch some!

PS since it’s a river... Read the water and look for areas that hold fish. If it looks fishy, it probably is. Lol!

It’s easy to tie and hands down the best knot for braid to terminal tackle.

So yet again, why I dont go out fishing on the boat on weekends...bunch of jackasses...we get to the boat ramp on the way out and this idiot is blocking the ramp, putting on the cover, tying straps whatever. I say to him hey can you guys pull up. then he smarts of "no I thought we'd sit here all night". I just looked at him...I was about to say something but he wasnt worth my time. F'n idiots.

Fun quick trip In Galveston Bay from Saturday morning. Found a school of solid trout with some 20+ inchers. Even got to break out the top waters. So fun watching them blow up on the lures.

Ive got 3yrs on ya;) but yeah, I bet if I was on the boat ramp blocking it he would have lost his mind...bet he treats his wife like shit...This is one of the reasons grenades are illegal for the common person. I'd liked to drop a grenade in the back of his boat....LOL

Nice man! I wish the lower coast limit was 10 still. I love catch specs on top, mid August my way reds start roaming more and I hope to catch some on topwater then.

Well this year has been a mix of ups and downs for me. I've broken my personal best large mouth twice this year, but have had a lot of tough days with very few fish. My only goal when I go out is to not get skunked, and so far I have accomplished that. I've also worked on fishing outside of my comfort zone. I've learned a lot about fishing chatterbaits/bladed jigs/vibrating jigs or whatever you want to call them. I also got back into fishing dropshot rigs.
