Just wanted to take advantage of the summer. Got tired of getting eaten alive by mosquitoes in the woods, so I'm going to be in the water until the snow comes again. LOL

That looks like work man. My idea of a good time is to paddle out in the middle of the lake, hook up to a buoy, and take a nap on the board... LOL

That’s my buddy John Hadley in the very beginning with the hat on, dude is a mad man! Those guys do something called down winders, they wait for the NW wind to get to like 40k and paddle downwind for like 25-30 miles, so mental!

Caught my first taste of "waves" paddling back into Alameda the other day. I can see how you guys get hooked on that feeling.

Had my first surf on Saturday since busting my head. Felt great to be back in the water! Bobbled a bit on my first wave, then had no issues the rest of the day. Definitely need my paddle strength back

Is jumping from a 7'6 x 19 to a 6'2 x 20 3/4 x 2 3/4 too drastic of a jump? looking for some input. The 7'6 board i've posted on here is starting to take on some water and I'm looking for a new board.

nah. it's all about the volume, shape of the board in relation to the shape of the wave. Looks like the 6'2" has lots of volume based on the dims. take that thing out and rip it!

I'd say test ride a few boards in that range and see how you like them

It'll be a tough transition for someone who doesn't have a lot of surfing experience. Volume of the board is a big factor though, so look more for that than at the dims. Are you looking at a brand new board or used board? There's a lot that goes in to the board outside of just the height/width/thickness. You should try and rent a few boards in the dimensions/volume you're looking at going to. I learned on my friend's dad's 11' board. Then I got a 6' board. It was an extremely frustrating few months trying to even just get a popup on it and go straight. But once you do, you'll love it.

Thanks for the input! Looking for used board right now. But yeah definitely wanting something with a lot of float. Local spot tends to get real “mushy” and current board just sinks. Everyone around here either has a longboard or something in the 6 foot range with some width and thickness. I’d like to go for the second option nothing against longboards.
