When I brought my truck in for an alignment I noticed that the rear axle was shifted to the right. Today I noticed the truck sounded like a cage full of mice so I get under it to grease everything when I noticed this bolt up against the frame.

Did I do something wrong? Is the frame/shackle tweaked? Is there a left/right on the shackles?

Pretty sure the bolt is in backwards. Head should be on the inside, nut on the outside. Dont think that explains the axle shift though. More pictures of everything would help..

Yes, that bolt is backwards. Weird on the axle shift

Is that a Dobinsons grease-able bolt? If so I couldn’t get them to work as the top shackle bolt. Went back to stock for the top bolt.

I thought that might be the case.. Looks like you're going to have to mark it and take it apart, cut 2-3 threads off, clean the threads up, and put everything back together.. Are you having this issue on the passenger side too?

Yes, it is. Maybe I need to put the old one in the top then.

Passenger side has room, but it’s close

Yea, it bummed me out. I thought about putting a washer on the inboard side but when the truck flexes it would still rub. The springs move around in the shackles a fair amount.

Cutting the excess off would fix it, right?

Try it. The shackles and springs move around a lot when the chassis flex’s.

I suppose I could make sure it’s painted, and I’ll see scratches if it rubs.
