Found a nasty crack in my Bronson near the bottom bracket while I had the rockguardz doing a maintenance tear down. SC didn't have any more v2's of any color, so they offered me a crash replacement into a v3 Bronson in the color of my choice and were extremely generous in pricing of the headset and super deluxe ultimate as the only two parts I couldn't swap over from my old frame. Only had one ride on it so far, but man the updated geo is really nice.

    RIP Crackarino

How do you like the v3 frame compared to the V2?

Isn't the front brake cable meant to be routed between the stanchion and the wheel instead of on the outside to prevent it from catching on something?

I've only had one ride on it so I can't give you much more than initial impressions. I much prefer the updated geo of the v3, for both fireroad and trail climbing so far. However I definitely notice the longer wheelbase. I failed to clear a u turn on a horse gate at the bottom of the fireroad on my first ride, and I always cleared it on the v2. I'm sure I'll adjust, it just caught me by surprise.

The bike wants to go fast. I wouldn't call it a slug on the trail at slower speeds, but it certainly felt more stable at higher speeds. I don't feel nearly as confident on it in the rock gardens as I did on the v2 with the 11-6 coil, but I haven't even started to tune the rear shock. Either version, I'm really starting to think a 150 rear travel bike is a bit much for my trails. I'm seriously considering adding a 130-140 rear 29er and am really tempted to try a Yeti or DW Link bike, but every customer service interaction with SC has been so good I'm having a hard time swapping to another brand.

@Jukas have you been on a Transition Sentinel before? 160 upfront, 140 in back. Love it out here in the PNW.

That's funny. I literally never noticed it was routed on the outside. It's been like that since I replaced the guide rsc's a couple years ago. Never even noticed the lbs did it wrong, but now I can't unsee it. Brb gotta fix

Man, that’s some good customer service!

I just watched the video comparison from Pinkbike of the Bronson, yeti sb150, stumpjumper, Remedy, and Kona process. It seems the consensus was that the Bronson wants fast sketchy shit haha. Which is fun but definitely not as easy to find that kind of trail in my places.

I haven't had any issues yet with my Bronson... I've definitely put it through it's paces too!

Here in the Santa Cruz area we have a couple of great bike companies (Santa Cruz and Ibis, plus some smaller ones and of course Specialized just over the hill) and some great trails, but not enough trails, and many of them are not legal. All the open space is either state (State Parks, CalFire) or local, no federal land. That's changing soon as the BLM develops a trail plan for the new 6000 acre Cotoni-Coast Dairies National Monument. The BLM generally has good trail standards (think Utah, Colorado) and is supportive of mountain bikes, but there is also a lot of competition from hikers and equestrians who are concerned about trail conflict or just heavy usage. But it's possible to support all kinds of users and mitigate conflict with good trail design. For more info see http://mbosc.org/coast-dairies/

If you ride in the area, or just want to help us out, send email to the BLM supporting mountain bike access to the National Monument. DEADLINE FOR WRITTEN INPUT IS AUGUST 2

    Here's a suggested letter ...
    http://mbosc.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/CCDNM-MBOSC-Sample-Letter.pdf

Just copy/paste, add your contact info and signature, and email to blm_ca_cotoni_coast_dairies@blm.gov

    Thanks!

Got a quick ride in after work yesterday on my stache. This bike is so fun! I did feel a little bit of the bounce people were talking about but I think my tire pressure is a little high since I didn’t have my pressure gauge with me and my pump doesn’t read below 20 psi...

Quick tubeless sealant refresh question: better to pop the bead and pour it into the tire, or just squirt into the valve stem? I’ve always done the former, since it gives me the opportunity to pull out any hairballs, but it incurs the risk of damaging the tape if the old sealant is really stuck on.

I just add it through the Presta stem. Never had any issues. I usually go through a set of tires before I run into accumulation issues anyway.

Depends on the stem for me... I've found a few stems that get clogged really quickly with the glitter particles in Orange Seal due to narrow openings. For those applications, I'll remove a section on the bead and pour in.

Thanks, I also go through tires fast enough, but my wife is more gentle (or the Schwalbe she prefers last longer than my Maxxis) and I need to seal up her bike. Last time we swapped tires they were really stuck on AND she had huge hairballs inside them.
