Mounted my yeasu ftm-400 to the panavise mount using ram ball mounts and the x grip. Love the location of it now!

 

Where did you attach the Ram nipple?

 

It’s mounted to the panavise which is drilled in behind the ac controls so you don’t see the screws. Then use the 1” ball base ram mount on the panavise, ram Mount short arm then the x grip. Picture is kinda bad but this is the only one I have of it right now

 

Was it easy?

 

How does it compare to something like Bleachwhite?

installed some firestone airbags. really happy with the end result. pita to do some of the bolts, now just gotta wait and make sure they dont leak.

 

I ended up paying around $450 and they used splicer UJoints.

 

I hope you understand that radio is not legal on MURS. It puts out too much power, MURS is capped at 2w. Additionally, the radio not type certified by the FCC for MURS. One of the reasons it fails type certifications is the transmissions are not spectrally pure. If you are transmitting on 151.820, the radio is actually transmitting on a wide variety of other frequencies as well. These are called spurs. The largest is usually close to 3x the frequency tuned on the front. So there's probably a spur near 455.460 when you're on 151.820. These spurs can cause interference with police and fire. Please don't use these radios.

All that on the FCC website is correct. MURS uses "walkie talkie" like devices. It doesn't mean you can use any device you happen to come across. The device must be type certificated for use on MURS.

That last paragraph is the one you need to read carefully:

The baofeng is not authorized on MURS.

 

Where do I find that information? And the baofang power can be reduced to .5 watt, which would further reduce the chance of Spurs, no?

 

So I would need an American made radio “FCC type certified” in order to use it legally?
