If I can ever get my MPVI2 to connect again I might reach out to you for more info. I’m having similar results. For some reason my computer lost the drivers and I can’t get them to update. Gonna probably pull the trigger on a new laptop as this touchscreen pile of garbage has pissed me off for the last time.

Alright apple guys. Will this laptop with boot camp do all I need for HP? All it will get used for is that and forum cruising. I have to carry a windows unit for work but I can’t add apps to it, so this little guy would not kill the space in my bag so I could keep it with me.

So were your fuel trims way high compared to the 5 or 6% range I'm seeing?

Fyi I'm seeing taller trims in hot and high altitude vs normal cooler temps down at sealevel

    I’m crashing this party...

Need advice about buying though...to gather your logging with the non-pro version, do you have to drive with your laptop connected?

Am I correct the PRO version will gather logging and store for future editing?

Asking because I don’t particularly want to drive around capturing data with my laptop open and sitting on the seat.

Additional curious thought...I have the OVtune handheld. With the HPTune device, could I restore the stock tune, log it, then upload the OVTune 87, 91 and/or 93 tunes, log them and compare graphically in the software to get an understanding of changes?

Just discovered a tuning shop with a dyno shop nearby yesterday.

You could log the sensors to get some idea of what he changed per tune but you wouldn't be able to look at the tables and see what was changed.

Also at this point laptop is required. Supposedly logging will be possible without it in the future but who knows if it'll come to be.

The issue I see with logging without a laptop with the pro version is how to tell it when to start and stop logging. My thinking is an hp tuner app that bluetooths to it just to tell it to start and stop logging even if you couldn't view the log itself on the phone or tablet. How about it @HPTuners ? What's in the works for this feature?

Yeah. Before rescaling trims were +20-25%. I thought I had a problem. I spent a week trying to find vacuum leaks, testing fuel pressure, etc. Putting the stock intake back on for a week showed that the TRD intake was obviously the issue. Just had to sort out how much to change the numbers.

Try that if you’ve still got it. See what your trim numbers look like with the stock intake.

I believe the mpvi2 is going to be able to log without the laptop connected. It’ll likely just log whenever the key is on. You’ll then plug in and download the logs. But, it’s not quite ready for prime time. Guys are bitching about it over on the hptuners forum.

Why in the world would you buy an apple laptop to solely run Windows? Your current laptop does it have windows 10? If so, and you dont necessarily care whats on your laptop (applications etc), you can easily reset (reinstall windows). Click on the start menu, click on the gear icon (settings) -> update and security -> recovery -> click get started under reset.

    reset.jpg

Currently there are two options with the non pro, both require a laptop running. 1. directly connected via the supplied usb c cable. 2. via bluetooth. I tested bluetooth and it just doesnt have the bandwidth to collect high polling interval amounts of data that i typically like to collect, so I have always just used the cable.

Gotcha, yeah im no where near 20-25% typically around 3-7% depending on the conditions, so im not super worried. Im surprised LTFT's that high didnt throw a code for you!

I think that's the way they'd have to do it as well.

I'd sure love Bootcamp for Ipad. That'd be awesome. Or, better yet, a VCM suite ios app!

As for the fuel trims throwing an mil; It never did. Not sure what the threshold is for a code. I tried two different intake tubes. That's definitely how it was designed to work. Like I mentioned earlier, I think they were trying to lean out the open loop wot areas by making it a little bit larger in there.

    a Siri enabled VCM scanner.

    Hey Siri. Start scanning.

Hey Siri. Save log file as...

    Would be so handy.

LOL make a full featured tablet... apple... not gonna happen.

Yet they made the stock tune PIIIIIIIIIIG rich from the factory haha. Im not too worried about 3-7% positive LTFT's then.

What were the max MAF numbers that you were seeing in stock form with big LTFT's?

Ewww no apple products k thnx. Easy enough to reach over and press the spacebar on the laptop to get logging going.

I'll have to go back through some old logs and see what the numbers were. Don't have the laptop with me today.

As for the apple stuff, I dig the phone and ipad. They work great with the wireless carplay head unit I put in the dash. How cool would it be if all that logging could happen with your phone still in your pocket as you drive.

OK that would be cool. Or at least be able to use an HPTuner app BT to start and stop logging (with channels you setup via XML on the actual VCM Scanner application on the computer) then when you stop it transfers it to the phone. would be easier to do on android imagine. @HPTuners

Fair question. I generally feel apple products are of a better build quality, I have been very happy with everything I have built by them. I will be using it for internet uses while traveling at work as well, which is really all I do besides HP. Almost everything else I have is apple so I figured it would be a good time to try the laptop since I didn’t think I needed a crazy power brand new machine for my uses. As well, my wife has all kinds of stuff on the one I’m currently using so I could let her have hers and I would have mine lol.

Understandable.... but know that for about the same price you can get a brand new PC that will spank the crap out of a 5 year old macbook air, also note that the macbook air linked to is likely EOL and not receiving any macos updates / support
