Appears to be an even uglier version of a snorkel

AEV snorkels have the same look to them. I would guess that it is a pre-cleaner mounted lower in the system, and the hatch looking thing is the cleaning port.

I will say that the intake tube looks REALLY narrow. You'd definitely have issues if you were running a superch...oh wait...silly 3rd gens.

Looks better than the ARB one. The OEM Toyota one is still the best looking option on the market.

It’s a snorkel. Looks like the tried to make it look like is part of the front of that rack.

I actually don’t like snorkels but that one is probably the best/cleanest looking one I seen. Just don’t like the huge base part of it going into the fender.

Yeah, but it’s out of your sight lines and is up where there is clean air. Doesn’t cause a lot of wind noise either.

The ARB one is just for show, and poorly designed. Mainly for looks. The Toyota one actually represents an effort to make the thing functional.

FOR EVERYONE HERE, trash talking or not, I will drop some truth bombs.

Micah (@upTOPoverland) and myself have built a fully functional snorkel for the 3rd gen tacoma. This was built 100% by hand from fiberglass. Micah and myself are actually much smarter than some of you think and we did the math to ensure we are not restricting air flow. The stock intake is a 3" hole equal to about 7.07 sq. in. The tube of this snorkel, in addition to the intake head of this snorkel has about 9.27 sq in ALL THE WAY TO THE FACTORY airbox, the restriction is again the stock hole.

This is a first iteration, and we will be refining the design so buckle up....

Agreed, love the aesthetic of it "hiding" in front of the rack.

I stand corrected. Photo angles don't always do a product justice. Props to you for putting your money where your mouth is and putting a product out to market.
