I went straight to 87 FOB, never tried base. But the throttle response and mpg increase is incredible. Ov tune is totally worth it.

Using less clutch, better throttle response, better mpg, accelerating on highway in 6th gear, 6th gear at 40mph cruising speed, smoother sounding engine......Big props to ovtuned!

My only complaint left is that damn rev hang. 2.0.....?

don't think rev hang will be a problem for you with 2.0.

Don't expect a flash tune to break the tires loose with raw power or anything.. But Im really appreciating the work and effort ovtune has done for this engine platform.

At first I thought it was a lot of hype, and being on the fence owning this truck for almost a year now. But it really does make a big difference

I probably would not have kept my 3rd gen if not for OVtune. I would have sold it and gotten a 2015 2nd gen.

Does anyone with a manual trans have the dump tubes yet? Matt is showing huge gains in the low rpms but Im thinking this is with the automatic trans and has to do with torque tables and throttle limiting that might not be present in the manual. Can a manual truck actually get the huge increase in torque shown by the dyno graphs. Is an entire new exhaust needed for these gains. I already have ov tune and run 93 fob but would love MORE. I had long tube headers and open Y pipe on my second gen, but got real tired of the noise and stink of having no cats.

The tune change is to the motor and the motors are the same between the ATs and MTs.

Dyno pulls are typically done in the gear that is 1:1 (4th on both the AT and MT). The problem is that we hit the speed limiter in 4th before redline. So, I think OVT does his pulls in 3rd and corrects it to be 1:1. When corrected an AT 3rd gear with a locked TC will be the same as an MT in 3rd.

Also on stock sized tires, the MT overall ratio is 5.676 in 3rd and the AT is 5.824. Pretty darn close (less than 3%). So even if uncorrected, the output would not be much different and would only slightly favor the AT gearing.

a good exhaust optimizes and improves it, yes. not sure i can give you any data though. i had a minor issue and had a limited run with the catless tubes. those are on the way back and high flow catted ones on the way. even with my small install issue you can definitely see the change down low. this is all YMMV because exhaust system differences. mine is pretty wide open and it runs absolutely amazing on 2.0 for 93 on MT. most folks here using tubes will be running them with a significantly more restrictive exhaust.

So if I already am running 87 or 91 fob...will these catted dump tubes further improve bottom and mid range?...I would love more low rpm torque but really couldn't care less about 4k and up... already got plenty up there.

Thanks just trying to figure out if they're worth the $700 for a naturally aspirated application.

The overall improvement in the driving experience is worth the $700.00 IMHO the added power in the usable power band is a plus.

ETA just noticed you were talking about the dump tubes, can't comment there but if removing the secondary cats when I installed the URD Y pipe are any indicator I would say yes.

hard to say. i also rarely rev high above 5k, but i also use the shit outta this motor. and i really enjoy driving NA, too.

from my personal results you can get significant improvement from either the tubes or leaving stock cats and replacing the exhaust after that with a non-restrictive type. either setup is good and both will shine with 2.0, so you're good on that however you choose. 2.0 will take care of you.

I'm something of a performance junky and am doing most of it with the fully open exhaust and the high flow catted tubes both. I'm temporarily back on stock front cats and my performance is massively improved from 2 weeks ago when i had the catless tubes on 1.05. stock cats on 2.0 is another universe. high flow cats coming and that's gonna be even better. i am honestly somewhat surprised that I'm running the same stock low flow cats right now with the performance I'm getting.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like the catted dump pipes might be worth it.
