Cool, I've checked them out as well. Pretty reasonable pricing from what I've seen.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Last time i was out there the water was way high with rough currents, washed out banks, and hidden debris. Pretty but just wasn't enjoyable fishing. I need to get back when conditions are better.

    Thanks for the input.

Leftover pic from 4th of July weekend. Between 4 of us, we caught about 25 native brookies in this size range. Most caught on a dropper, but i got a few on a caddis dry20190706_120606.jpg

Went fishing friday after leaving work early, first place we hit was a really promising tributary I found near an undeveloped site we were working at. Water looked really good but couldn't find any trout in there, so we packed up and headed to some tributaries that feed into a river we've had good luck in. Couldn't find anything in the smaller pools but managed several trout in a large pool below a waterfall. Water must be too warm in there because the trout didn't put up a fight so we quickly released them and decided to call it so we wouldn't kill any fish due to heat stress.

Sunday we got on the water at a nearby lake around 8am, though we intended to be out there earlier, and didnt have any luck. I saw bass and panfish in structure near the shore but couldn't get a hit with streamers or gurglers. Saw what was either carp or catfish holding off the bank in about five foot of water and could not get a fly in front of them without spooking them. Pretty frustrating stuff, wondering if I should try again this week but go at dusk instead of in the morning. Only other option might be finding some tailwaters or colder water to chase fish in this heat, Davidson is probably still pretty cold but that river kicks my ass.

Was able to hit the water for about 30 mins yesterday. Rainbow warrior absolutely tore them up. Landed one decent fish, broke one off bigger than her, and landed a bunch of little guys.

Thats actually one of my buddies, but we've caught 20"+ trout out of this stream before. So it doesnt hurt to have.

Edit: This is also all catch and release stuff. Whole stream is like that.

I hate having a net jangling around while I’m wading. I just beach the big ones. Sure once in a great while I’ll lose a fly but I try to not touch the fish anyway if at all possible to limit the stress on them. I’ve seen people fight teeny fish like that with their reel singing set at like 0 lbs. that bothered me. Brookie’s are beautiful in their native environment. Most places out here they over reproduce / out compete the natives and then u have a stunted population. Worse they can hybridize with the endangered bull trout.

Always use a net. Makes catch and release way easier as you can keep the fish in the water and keep them way calmer

Mostly when I catch a fish he never leaves the water and is released with Hemostats and a flick of the wrist. No slime removal by the net. And no stress being handled for a photo.
