I have the Stage 4 setup. It rides pretty good and looks gucci (get a lot of complements from strangers and even caught some electricians I hired on my Nest cameras gawking over it and taking pictures) but if I were to do it again I would go with a Bilsten or OME setup. I don't feel it's worth the extra cost for the way I use the truck.

Edit: I have also had 4 of the straps that hold the reservoirs on snap in the year I've had it.

Sounds like just need some stiffer springs on all 4 corners. Look into Dakar leaves and Bilstein 6112/5160 combo with 650lb coils.

If you're looking for a lift the answer is no, don't bother with any of the expensive options like Icon, King, ADS, Radflo, etc.

Yes, I second this for @mojavejohn . I've been enjoying the lack of maintenance necessary with the OME setup on my truck.

That sounds like a shit ride for a truck.

I’ve had kings and now icons prior was ome 886s.
FWIW the icons I have ride really PLUSH compared to the kings even with the clickers. Both have 700lbs springs the kings however were better quality build wise just rode stiff and not to much preload.
The 886s are a good ride overall just get some clunking when it tops out is all but heavy duty for sure.
The icons are notorious for leaking mine just recently got rebuilt for a leak but it was cause of my own doing.

I am riding OME 886 with Nitro 9000. The ride is stiff and that is okay with me. Up front I have 200lb steel Pilfreybuilt and the back a high clearance CBI HC rear bumper at 250lbs. A stock UCA that still allowed an even three inch lift with no issues. My only complaint with the OME package is the Dakar leafs are super squeaky. Still a solid improvement from stock and a good value. In my humble opinion.

Yeah, that’s a better question, not are they worth the extra money, but do I need that high end equipment.

For your budget, you can do new leaf pack, UCA's, and full 6112/5160 kit or better if you're willing to do the install work yourself. It's pretty easy to do on your own.

Message Mike with Dobinsons, he’ll build you a full package based off added weight and how much lift you are looking for. Mine are in transit so no first hand review but I haven’t seen a single complaint and Mike is second to none with his service.

Thanks for all of the good feedback. This will be my first aftermarket suspension upgrade. Let me see if I understand what I really need. I need heavier duty springs to carry the load. In front that will be the coilovers. In the rear that will be new leaf springs. The higher end shocks control the the “bounce”. With shocks, they’ll fade when getting used a lot, like on a long washboard road or hauling ass in the desert.

I don’t necessarily need a lift, but since I’m replacing it, I might as well go for a couple more inches. (that’s what she said)

I have Icon 2.5's with SPC UCAs and Tacoma Pro leafs with icon add a leaf pack and 285/70/17 KM3s. Gave me about a 3.5" lift.

I love my setup. It's perfect for me. I drive 12 miles each way to work and do moderate to hard offroading along with easy stuff.

When it comes to Icons v Kings, look into digressive vs progressive tuning of shocks. (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...sive-piston-valving-article-and-video.506764/)
Icons & Kings are two totally different designs, so you cant really compare apples to apples. That being said I've seen dudes crawl with Kings and really fuck their shit up bc of how soft & bouncy they were set to.

Oh I meant between the ones you had mentioned, king $2000 vs JBA $450

Check out leaf springs from @Blackout14 as well. When I ordered my Dobinsons front setup I sent Mike an email with my estimate of added weight and desired lift and he recommended a setup. These are strut/coil combo, not adjustable coil overs. In my mind unless this is a truck that is going to be used hard C/Os are not needed. I spend a lot of time off-road but since it is mostly just trails with less technical sections with big drops I have never had an issue with a mid-tier setup. Plus I wont have to re-build them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND OME 866 coils. I have no bumper on or any skids and I have sagged them out completely. I have seen other similar experiences on here as well. Also, if you go over 2” lift (or for better performance in general) go with new UCAs. I run Dirt King tubulars and have really liked them.

JBA is just an aftermarket control arm not a suspension setup.
