Ultragauge transmission temp

I'm pretty sure I have the MX UG. Mines maybe 4-5 years old. Is it capable of getting a trans read out, or does it have to be a newer model? I wouldn't mind having the option to keep an eye on my trans temps when I'm pulling my off road trailer.

 

If it's the MX it'll work once coded.

 

Try changing the Output Format to "0D". Using "00" says "display whatever comes back from the vehicle computer." Using "0D" says "Display a single digit -- either 1 or 0." This is a valid selection when the RPOS value ends in "01" -- such as the "1F01" in your set of codes above.

Thanks for the info. I changed it and now I get the single digit, will have to get it out on the highway later to see if it changes from 0 to 1

 

My ultragauge is 4 or 5 yrs old too and just got trans temp today after previous failed attemps. Used the code posted in this thread

 

Thanks, I'll see if I can figure it out. I just wanted to make sure it was something my UG was capable of before I invested some time trying. I'm getting ready for a 3 week camping trip and my days have been pretty full.. but when I get some time I'll see if I can get the trans temp to work. Would be nice for this trip.

Hayden 678 installed and here are my temps roughly a hour into a trip. 92 outside with a humidity of 94%.

 

Were you hauling anything? if not, thats about 10 degrees difference from my normal temps. So that cooler might be my next upgrade! Thanks

 

Nope. No load other then my family, arb bumper, and slightly larger tires.

 

Nice! Yeah i would be curious to know what sort of difference it makes while towing.

 

I’ll find out tomorrow. I will be pulling my 7x12 trailer to the neighboring county.

 

Towed my 23 ft trailer yesterday, highest I got was 194 on the torque converter and 184 on the pan. Engine heat was 198, now mind you this was going up a hill. On the level straights it was around 160 for both. Found if you are on a back country road and just just poking along it went down to 145. Trailer weight is 3800.

 

That’s not bad actually! I mean it could be better but with that weight id expect 200+ going up hill

 

Two weeks ago I hauled a 4000lb boat about 400 miles. I think the highest the pan temp got was 184 going uphill.

I think thats pretty good. I've reached over 200 at the TC just pulling myself up mountainous areas

 

Is this with your 07 Tacoma?
How can I get the tc temp?
I have the trn temp. I have an 07 Tacoma dbl cab sport. Newest UG as well and I didn’t see a tc option in the gauges. Thanks

 

Yes that is my 07. I can’t remember which code I put in. It was one that I found in this thread though.

 

These temps are towing about 4000# on a hot day uphill . Typically lasts about 20 seconds or so depending on the hill before going back down around 180 give or take a few degrees . The codes from the UG site are for the TC I believe which is a little hotter than what the rest of the transmission runs at . There are codes available somewhere to get your pan temp .I have the Hayden aftermarket HP trans cooler installed .

 

How much weight are you towing ?

 

The Trn temp is the Torque converter . I think the other code will say PAN . Going off memory here ,it’s been a few years since I installed the UG
