Looking to put a mechanical (Detroit NOT Truetrac) locker in rear on my 2010 taco. Haven’t been able to find anyone with a full case replacement. Have found some cheap alternatives that simply replace the spider gears but are limited to 35” tires (recommended).

Anyone know a good full case replacement Detroit locker for the rear?

if being limited to a 35in tire is a problem for you, you need to look into a full axle replacement thats going to be good for a 37 or bigger....

you might as well just get s built 9 inch with 40 spline shafts if you plan on going bigger than 35s. or just plan on replacing the shitty stock shafts after every wheeling trip, or a junk yard dana 60

This. If you're going bigger than 35s and wheel hard enough to need a Detroit (vs a lunchbox) youre gonna blow that rear end up

I think there are aftermarket chromoly axle shafts now for 05+ Tacomas.
That said I’m not sure if moving the weak spot to the diff is a good idea.
I have used stock spares complete with brakes from a junker sitting in my garage in case I ever do bend a shaft or strip the splines but so far not needed but I don’t do pavement donuts either lol

I have spare ring and pinion gears sitting on a shelf too. Because Murphy is a bastard!
