Pep Boys Definity tires

Just saw a commercial for any Definity tire. Buy 3 get the fourth for $1 instantly. No waiting for a rebate. I have the Definity Dakota MT. I've got about 35K miles on them and are still going.

 

i aslo have these tires ,very nice till u get about 17,000 miles on them , they start to get choppy and a lil noisy ,but ofcourse there mud tires,

 

I got the Dakota A/T's...but the deal wasn't as nice. I had to wait for a rebate making the 4th tire free.

Do you have to buy the tire stems and hazard warranty to get the 1$ tire? you did before with the rebate...they were gonna try and put a 'kit' of some sort on my TPMS sensors that cost like $7 each! I told 'em no way, just charge me for valve stems, and they let it go at that.

The A/T's have been pretty good tires..tread pattern looks just like BFG Radial A/T's and sound about as noisy on the road. Balanced great and have held balance for almost 6k miles now. Rain traction is fantastic compared to the Dunlop OEM's that were on before.

 

i have the 285/75/16 m/t i like them but a bitch to get balanced right.......
and a lil sloppy in the rain

 

next time you have troubles balancing Toyota wheels, take them to a shop with Hunter machines and have them use a Haweka adapter.

I didn't need it (maybe the pepboys I went to had one and I didn't know it?) but a lot of toyota's just won't balance out without one. It has something to do with being hub-centric instead of lug-centric wheels.

 

even with aftermarket rims " moto metal 951's ????

what i meant was do you have to use the Haweka adapter on aftermarket rims as well or just on the stock toyo rims????

 

You probably still have to get the stems and hazard warranty, which works out to close to the price of a tire. It's still cheap though even with the road hazard warranty.

 

Mine are still going well with 35K miles on them. Just rotate them religiously.

 

That's my understanding...and it's even more important for after market wheels. I really don't understand what the deal is, but a lot of people have had trouble balancing wheels toyotas and finding a shop with Hunter and a Haweka adapter seems to fix 'em up pretty well.

 

I didn't mind the road hazard warranty...if I cut one off-roading and it shreds later on, I'll get a new tire. I thought that worth it since it's happened a lot more than once for me!

It was the TPMS 'kits' I was leery about...I didn't want them touching the sensors. I've heard enough about how they can be damaged unmounting/mounting them, just didn't see the value in it. Especially since pepboys mechanics are just as bad as anywhere else.

Whats the secret to balancing these Lug centric Toyota rims without a Haweeka& Road Force balancer?

so the consensus on this is that a haweka adapter is needed to balance correctly (road force or not) on even aftermarket wheels?

Have had these current tires road forced about 5 times now by 2 different shops and they still develop vibes afterwards

I've not had any problems getting them balanced with aftermarket wheels. No adapters.

 

its just gotta be my tires then, total POS. did you road force yours?
