Hey everyone, came across this post on FB: saying Surprise Lake Trail was closed due to the actions of some moronic Jeepers. Everyone i've called in the area, including Washington Trails Association, said the trail was still open. After posting my findings, and a little back and forth (he did a lot of name calling, I kept it civil) he called me a troll, deleted all my evidence and blocked me.

I was just wondering, from the people in this area, is this trail actually closed? And if anyone has a spare second, mind letting the people know in the comments that the trail is still open if it is indeed still open?

    Thanks

Oh yeah, I was able to screenshot a bit though, like this gem from the page owner

Someone was saying a land company bought the area out but when I called the number on the sales order they said they had no idea about any local 4wd trails closing. No validity to whether or not that company ownes the property or not, just following every lead

Post (the "note" was added after I posted)

This has caused a lot of confusion for the PNW folks and it is still being confirmed. Multiple local FB groups have posted it and are working to confirm the status as well as rebuke the individuals in the photo. That’s all I got for now.

Thanks for the info. Just thought it was rather fishy he deleted all my evidence contradicting what he was saying, threw out a few insults and said I was "beating a dead horse", then blocked me

When you get a definite answer, would you be willing to post your findings on his original post? If not, no worries at all. It would be a shame though if misinformation spread through our community

I think I understand the situation now, and why he lied about the trail closing. He just started pushing these patches, what a couinkidink

    Well sort of.

The trail apparently was on private timber land and has changed hands. The new owner has decided to close the trail off to protect the timber investment, or possibly log it off, which would cause a shit show if logging operations and offroading where to try and exist at the same time.

Hopefully him and not me  was pretty thorough with my fact checking (rip all evidence) but can't beat a local who actually knows the trail

I've never actually been on the trail, but I do know the area. A big chunk of forest, like 10's of thousands of acres, around there is privately owned, so it's no surprise they closed access for liability reasons and not because of what that guys fb page is claiming.

I actually called the logging company (can’t recall the name but started with a W) and they had no idea what I was talking about. It was the phone number on the labs transaction

Makes sense. But even if It was closed due to that reason, it wasn’t due to these dumbass Jeeps
