Off Craigslist or any forum or website...who doesn't have a paypal?

Seems risky. They get your money...maybe they will ship...maybe they wont...

If no shipment...I guess it's off to Judge Judy.

Is there a way to protect your money in a out of town shipping parts transaction?

I usually don't buy anything online that I can't use PayPal with. That being said, when I buy off of Craigslist, I always arrange to meet at the local police station, where ever the seller is. Call me paranoid, but I haven't been held up yet.

Check out their references whenever possible.

I'm super leary myself. I bought a coffee pot on E-bay, turned out it was refurbished. I read the site AFTER I got the coffee pot and it said refurbished in the smallest font possible in a very obscure location.

If you have American Express, use that and pay on Paypal using the AmEx. This way you can dispute the charge w/o any hassle. That's what I do!

I have bought a few things from other forums, and a few from craigslist. So, far i have never been jacked....luckily. Unfortunately, I trust local socal people less than I do people from other states. There's too many sheisters here. I think if you get a phone number and talk to them, you can usually jusge the person pretty well.
