I called Toyota corporate today and asked about bed rail capacity and they said each bed rail has a capacity of 440 pounds. With some of the set ups that I’ve seen you guys have you can probably hold more I’m just giving you the statistics that Toyota corporate gave me.

Is that stagnant weight or traveling weight?
Lots of guys on here with bed stiffeners because the load shift spreads the ends of the bed out near the tailgate.

I didn’t ask that because I was frustrated with the person on the other end not understand why I was asking this question. My apologies

They don't want to have tell the customer specific specs, 1 they don't know how to get that info. 2 don't want to say something that can be proved wrong and held a accountable.

That's not 440 lbs on the bed rails, that is a twisting force on the tie town area. I think OP is talking about the flat part on top of the besides, how much weight could be put on them.

I took those sliding/locking tiedown hooks off my truck. You can see in the picture how it’s tweaking the rail upward from the pressure holding down your motorcycle. On the other hand, I do use the two front and rear hooks that are mounted to the side and the bottom of the bed( although when I look at this picture, the tiedown hooks in the front corners of the bed of this truck seem to be missing). They are strong and will handle a lot of pull. I’m trying to think of a design to fabricate something to attach to the middle area between the front and back of the bed, on each side.
