Excluding the PW, Gun and Foam Canon it’s approximately $290.

Subjectively a PW in this category would be $100 to $150, which comes with a Gun.

    Foam Cannon $30 to $90

If you want to upgrade your Gun $30 to $75.

My whole setup was approximately $500.

This seems like a sincere reply to my only partially serious post, so let me comment. I do care about my truck and keep the interior clean, that’s important to me. In my part of California we have limited water and frequent rationing. In fact, with no snow or winter road grime here (on pavement) our winter rains are the best car wash ... I’ll sometimes take a drive in a downpour just to clean my truck. Honestly, I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone washing their car in their driveway for decades, but I do occasionally take it to a self-serve spray wash (which is almost always very busy) when it gets too gross even for me. Pretty much the same routine for every car I’ve owned for the last 30 years, and when I sell them a quick wash and some spray detailer seems to shine ‘me up just fine even after 10-15 years. Now my wife’s car and my motorcycles do inhabit our garage ... and I do have my air compressor hard mounted right by my garage door; I use it to air up tires and blow crap out of my truck bed 100 times more often than I use my pressure washer.

Driveway washing is almost extinct but I still do it once in a while. The amount of water used with a PW seems to be minimal compared to the standard hose and nozzle. I like the idea of having the PW station setup like OP vs rolling out the unit and hooking it up

he is controlling pressure by changing out the spray nozzle. all of pressure washer tips (15 degree, 25 degree, etc) come with a specified GPM flow rate. by going with a higher GPM tip, you can reduce the pressure (and vise-versa) with the same spray pattern. i have complete sets of 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 4.0 gpm nozzles and can get anywhere from 700 psi to 1200 psi with different 40 degree tips. i use a 2.5 tip for car washing, which puts the pressure just over 900 psi.

as for foam cannons, the same thing can be done by replacing the orifice in the foam cannon. i believe most foam cannons come with a 1.25 mm orifice. if you swap it out for a 1.1 mm orifice, you can use the foam cannon with a lower rated pressure washer.

Thanks, I pretty much know all that and was just wondering why reduce the pressure at the power washer instead of the wand nozzle. Unless I didn't understand what he was saying which might be the case.

Coming soon, but not on the Tacoma. On my Audi. I’ll post in here but won’t create another thread since it not Tacoma related.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear in the video when I said I dumbed it down. whoispurplegoo Explain it exactly how I should have. I switched to a 2.5 mm orifice tip to lower the psi and increase the GMP. I’m running about 1100 psi with 1.4 gpm’s using a 2.5 mm orifice tip. Each PW I’d different and you may need to test for your optimal result.

For the foam cannon I switched to the 3.0 orifice.

Really cool setup OP! Love it but I am skeptical of the spot free rinse unit. What's your experience with it? I have well water, horrible horrible iron filled well water. I have an iron removal unit, a water softener, and a whole house filter. That spot free rinse unit seems like it's just a couple of cartridge filters you can hook up to a hose.... so I'm curious if you really see any results? If you're good at detailing/cleaning (which you clearly know your stuff) you're not going to get water spots anyway. So I'm wondering if your results are just due to you being good at detailing or if that spot free rinse unit actually works for your.

I suspect since he is dealing with city water, not as much junk in his house water.

We are on a well, 1800ppm salt! Too high for kidneys, so we have bottled water delivered in five-gallon jugs. Yes, I have used that water for rinsing, but tempted to get this system with a pump to feed the pressure washer. After twenty years of caliche driveway, finally bit the bullet at have concrete down (200' long driveway). Maybe I'll wash the truck more often.

Edit - Silver Truck, caliche doesn't show as bad. My old Chevy my wife called the darker silver "caliche". Had it close for 20 years, so probably washed it 20 times.

    Thanks!

I love the DI systems and it works great. When I initially started using it I used it on a soap rinse. I quickly found out I was blowing though filters. So now I use it on a final rise that last made a min or two. After that I blow the water off with a blower. Then I can take my time wiping the rest of the water off with a detail spray.

I have my PW water line coming from my water softener and the water measures at about 100 ppm. Using the water softener in-line only shaves 2-3 % of the charge on the softener per wash.

Also, I like the unit for peace of mind. Especially during the hot months when I know some panels dry off before I can wipe them completely down.

    1800 ppm. That crazy!!!

Sweet. I had that unit and never installed it. Then I got the Kranzle unit. Love that thing.

Going strong for almost three years now! And about a third the price of Kranzle if you factor in shelf, reel, good hose, etc.

Hose that comes with the Comet isn’t great but completely usable!
