Kings are 100% worth it. Customer service is great. But they are SLOW. Also fun fact if you ever have issues you can go meet them in Barstow every Wednesday for technical help or make an appointment and they will help tune your shocks for free.

I know about king shocks but I thought that maybe king made uca’s as well.
    Thanks for the clarification.

I have an (Icon) stage 3 kit on my truck... I think the main difference is that the stage 2 kit doesn't have UCAs... You should at least consider adding them.

At any rate. I like my Icons, but they are a bit stiff (the whole progressive vs. digressive thing). I think that if I were to do it again, I'd consider Kings. Still, the Icons are pretty good and they look nice. I'm not in any rush to swap them out.

edit: tl;dr yeah they're worth the money, but so are the other big names.

Honestly, if you don't know why it is or isn't worth the money, it probably isn't. IMO you could probably get everything you want with an OME spring set with Bilsteins. I think sometimes we equate spending more money being better. It's not always. The only reason to buy and ICON or Fox or whatever suspension is because you already KNOW why you want it.

Not trying to be an ass, just something I've been thinking about lately.

You're giving solid advice, but I'd just add that if you can afford to go nicer, then go nicer. You drop $35-40k on a truck, lots of sweat and time invested, so maybe you don't want cut corners when you're a couple yards from the finish line. At the end of the day, if you can buy the higher-end suspension and still pay your rent and eat steak on Fridays, then buy the nicer suspension.

tl;dr -- I don't play basketball but I can still wear Nikes. Life's too short to die with money in the bank.

Last I heard anyways. There is a reason they are pricey and it’s the support that comes with it, not just the quality of the shock. Every time we had our tuning sessions with king on our BITD cars, there were always prerunners and other everyday dudes out there getting help and service dialing in their clickers or swapping springs and shit.

I don't know how long I will live. I still want to take care of my family after I'm gone..... I believe in buying what does the job and by that I mean the entire job. I'm not sure I'd notice the difference between a good suspension and a really expensive suspension. Once you reach a certain point, price goes up exponentially for a very small performance improvement.....

Besides, saving that money means more money for trips and memories and that's really what I'm after.

I think the OP already made up his mind on exactly how much he was willing to spend, and just wanted us to tell him it's ok... So I was just giving my permission!

I’m in for the price I was quoted, but I did a little more looking around and saw a lot less expensive options. This will be my first suspension that I put on a truck, so, yeah, looking for some “permission”. Thanks for the feedback.

I think any shock can be worked on and valved correctly to achieve whatever ride you're looking for. So why not go for something that's better built and tune it rather than keep throwing money away on something that leaks every 5k miles. I'm done w/icons

Icon are a low - mid tier shock charging a top tier price.

King wins offroad championships while Icon gets a participation award.

You can get a full king set with deaver springs for less than what icon charges.
