marlin xl-7 rifles

anyone on here have any experience with the new marlin xl-7 rifles?? ima definite marlin fan, as i have an old .30-.30 that i wouldnt trade for any damn thing....awesome shootin brush gun.

reason im asking bout the new xl-7's.......right now, i have a remington 7400 semi-auto chambered in .270(my fave caliber)....had it for a while, but im just not a big fan of it anymore(want a bolt action)....but a local gun shop has a brand new marlin xl-7 chambered in .270....bolt action......that i can use the remington as trade in. the remington is in awesome shape...very clean, nice shooter...pain in the ass to sight in.................but the marlin has now got my attention.

any feed back is appreciated.

I bought a xl-7, .270 cal. and couldnt be happier. They are priced good and are very accurate. The trigger was set correctly right out of the box. I don't think you will be disappointed.

 

thanks for the response man. they look like a really well built rifle for the cost, and as said before, im definitely a marlin fan.

i had thought bout it before, and was kinda hesitant to get rid of the semi-auto....but bolt actions are alot smoother and more accurate anyway, and the marlin is probably a more solid gun than my remington anyway.

 

I too own a couple of marlins, but I wouldn't trade my Rem. 700BDL .270 for anything. O.K. maybe trade for a Weatherby MV deluxe, but thats about it.

 

now....IF i had a rem. 700....yeah, i wouldnt trade it, but this 7400 aint even close to the 700.

 

I'm not too familiar with the 7400, have seen them just not owned any. I have a Rem. 742 .30-06 which is really nice, but it got put in the safe when I got the 700. I was reading about a new model that marlin had in the works a while back, seems like it was the xl7. I'd say go for it. It should hold its own, it is a Marlin.

i was gonna try trading the 7400 in for the marlin, but i think i may sell the rifle out right and that way i can get a good scope for the marlin when i get it.

 

I have a Marlin xl 7 in .30-06 I love it. Great gun and not too hard on the wallet.

I think it was a BSA 8-24 x 50. It has the Mil dots.

 

I too own one in 30.06. This rifle is a blast too shoot and for the price you just can't beat it... i got mine on clearance at a sporting good store total came to 200

 

well.....got my remington 7400 sold, and have decided that after goin between the remington 700 and the marlin xl-7.....im going with the marlin. all the reviews and all on it are pretty damn good, and price is good as well. im getting the camo dipped version chambered in .270.

now......hard decision......what scope to get??? i have around $180 to $200, and im stuck between a bushnell....a nikon...or a cheaper model leupold. what ya'll think?

what scope ya'll like and are using?

 

i got a 3x9x40 bushnell...if i would've had the cash at the time i would've went with nikon cause of the clarity in their scopes and the BDC is a nice touch.

 

yeah man.......a nikon with bdc reticle is what i think im gonna get.....either a 3x9x40 or a 4x16x40.

 

can't go wrong with either of those. What do you plan on using that .270 on?

 

around here....mostly deer and coyote, and when i go lower state.......hogs. i have an old .30/.30 marlin(got it from my dad a long time ago) that i use for deer when i hunt in heavy brush.....its an awesome brush gun............but the .270 is my favorite caliber for most anything........shoots good and flat...and hits pretty damn hard.
