Thanks, I did think about that, but wasn't sure about the parasitic power draw... Mine will be constant power. Keep me posted though. I'm interested in how will it works for you.

 

Huh? It is taking the place of the original cigarette lighter socket. It goes on and off with the truck so there is no parasitic draw. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you said though. Are you saying you wired yours in direct to the battery?

Yes, direct to battery. My cig lighter is stock and I planned to leave it that way. The Blue Sea 1045 that I have is wired direct to battery and hidden in the dash.

I've been looking at similar solutions and have to say the form factor you've developed is top notch, by far my favorite. This will be one of the first modifications I make. Yeah, it took me a good while to get through it all... Worth it though, a lot of good info in here. Leaving a quick comment afterward seemed the least I could do, no worries.

 

I don't like having my phone sitting so high up when it is dark outside. A large amount of my driving is at night and even with the screen dimmed way down it is still mildly annoying to me. So I fixed that by using an extension arm to drop the phone down for my commute. If I am driving during the day I usually take that off and just mount the phone up higher. Still visible if I glance down, but not right in my line of sight. The phone mount is just off the screen, but I wasn't paying attention to that when I took the picture cause I was focusing on the tablet.

Just purchased mine with a couple ball mounts and a swing arm to use with my Garmin. Looking forward to installing this, as I'm tired of the bouncy bendy arm suction cup mount I currently use.
